DEWEY will sail at once from
Manila en route home via the
Suez, Canal and New York. It
is given out that he will take
about four months to make the
trip. Plans are beginning to be
formulated for the greatest ovation
to the most popular American
in history upon his arrival.
THE fact is rapidly developing
that the Cubans will have to be
forced to lay down their arms,
which means another colonial
war for new imperial America.
By an act of congress when war
was declared against Spain Cuba
was to be given her independence,
but the course of the republicans
in the accomplishment of
their purposes is not shaped with
any regard to former precedents
or pledges of this government.
You have heard about the fish
story, but the Palmer Rustler gets
off this one on a turkey gobler:
Some weeks ago the Rustler
made mention of one of Mr. J.
W. Amyett's turkey goblers setting
on 16 eggs. The brood were
hatched, but being set on chicken
eggs, when he begin to strut it
scared the chicks and they all
left him and refused to follow.
Consequently he returned to his
nest and refused to leave it.
They again put the required number
of eggs under him and he is
just as attentive to them as before,
coming off to eat and drink
and going back. IIe is a perpetual
setter.
The Italy News-lterald reports
that D. T. Sloy of that city, recently
received a check for $462.0,
being one vear's dividend on
$823 stock in the Blooming Grove
oil mill. This shows a gain on
the amount invested of over 561
per cent., which is proof of the
value of an oil mill especially in
a cotton country. Ferris' ]usiness
men are undoubtedly sleeping
on their rights as long as
they fail to organize a stock company
and put in an oil mill here.
The benefit would not onl be in
direct dividends, but in the large
increase in Ferris' importance as
a cotton market and> trading

I beg to inform the people of Ellis county that since opening my

expectations. For a limited time only I will deliver by express to
your address at Milford. Italy, Palmer, Ferris or AMidlothian in a plain,
unmarked package, when the money accompanies the order, four full

is distilled from the pure waters emanating from the mountains of
Tennessee. When you receive it test it and ir not satisfactory return
it at my expense and your money will be forthwith refunded.
I want the patronage of the peoplee of Ellis county and am confident
that a close investigation will be nothing short of an overwhelming
