The Forestry Products Laboratory
at Madison, Wis., has made a hit w;th
Its classes for instruction in boxing
and crating. Industrial concerns in
all ports of the countrr are sending
representatives to take the course.
The Chinese and Japanese in their
tables regard the milky way ns a
stream containing silvery fishes.
African Bushmen and American In-
dians associate it with lights guiding
the paths of wandering spirits.
Cattle slaughtering Is now being
done humanely by means of a pneu-
matic pistol. The weapon is placed
against the head of the animal and
When the trigger is pulled a blunt bolt
Is driven out with great force which
kills the animal instantly.
For Raw Sore Throat
At the first sign of ■ raw; sore
throat rub on a little Musterole with
your fingers.
It goes right to the spot with a gentle
tingle, loosens congestion, draws out
•orcness and pain.
Musterole is a clean, white ointment
made with oil of mustard. It hrfs all
the strength of the old-fashioned mus-
tard plaster without the blister.
Nothing like Musterole for croupy
children. Keep it handy for instant
use. 3 5 and 65 cents in jars and tubes;
hospital size, $3.

Berlin, Nov. 13,—A vast mass of
material on German raw materials,
productivity, labor, wages and the
country's financial status Is being
gathered by the members of the Guar-
anties commission, th« subcommittee
of the Reparations commission now
in Berlin.
Almost dally consultations are be-
ing held with various government of-
ficials as well as financial and indus-
trial leaders as to the prospects of
Germany meeting her $100,000,000
gold installment to the allied powers
on Jan. 15 and in some of these con-
ferences, Roland W. Boyden and CjI.
James A. Logan, the unofficial Ameri-
can representatives, are having a part.
The second of four Installments, an-
other $100,000,000, is due next April.
The commissioners are expected to
remain here until Dec. 1 when they
will go back to Paris to report to the
full reparations commission. One of
the most Important phases of their
investigation has been currency Infla-
tion and the decline of the mark. It
Is interesting to note that since the
reparations payments began last May
the outstanding paper money circula-
tion in Germany jumped from 69,-
724,403,000 marks to SI,$47,101,000
marks for the week ending Oct. SI.
A comparison with pre-war issues
shows even more pronouncedly the
extent of Inflation. For Instance, in
the week ending July .25, 1912, the
paper money Issue aggregated only
1,004.260,000 marks. The same week
of Nov. 6, 1916 it had Jumped to 7,-
246,260,000. The same week a year
later it was 10,403,740,000 marks and
two years later it had gone to 16,959,-
260,000. The week of May 24, 1919,
It was 27,286,480,000 and the same
week in 1920 it reached 49,127,540,000
marks.
A recent statement by Dr. Fred-
erlch Rosen, former foreign minister,
that the amount of German property
sequestrated in various countries Is
sufficient to meet her reparations ob-
ligations has been the subject of dis-
cussions. The United States at one
time possessed $150,000,000 worth of
property belonging to the German
government.
Representations by Dr. Bern&rl
Dernburg that only "an Indeterminate
moratorium" can save Germany from
ruin are also being looked Into as well
as the recent negotiations here be-
tween Baron Anthony Rothschild of
London and German bankers regard-
ing a proposed loan of $500,000,000,
In 3 per cent 35 year bonds with
amortization provisions.
