Tractors selling as low as

fit no one, until they were
purchased and put into

But It Wasn't a Mistake.
After starting a correspondence
through friends they had In common,
a 70 year old woman in Kentucky and
a prominent citizen of Balllnger of
about the same age. corresponded for
ten years and then net in Temple this
week to be married. The marriage
took place in Belton, only after the
judge promised to keep the names a
secret U?eause the woman admitted
that she "might be making a mis-
take." However, twelve hours later
the couple were busily engaged in
spending a two days honeymoon in
Temple and mot the marrying justice
in a local cafe. The bride was jubi-
lant over the affair and rushed to the
judge and tleclared to his astonish-
ment:
"Oh, young man, you have the most
noble face!"
"It's all in the viewpoint," replied
the judge.
That Petition.
Several have asked me about the
petition at Willis' Drug store. Who
may sign it? The answer is, "Only
qualified voters should sign it." May
a woman sign it? Yes, if she is a
qualified voter. The petition is there
because that is a central place, and
it was desired to give the people an
opportunity to express themselves as
to their desire for a change in the
form of our city government.
The petition is being numerously
signed. Many others would sign It If
they did not forget about it when
down town. The petition Is asking
the City Council to give the people of
the city an opportunity to vote on the
question of a change In our organic
law. or course the Idea Is for a
change from our present, out-of-date
form to a modern, efficient manage-
rial form of government. Shall we
be satisfied with the past, or shall we
follow our motto: Progressive Tem-
ple, the question Is up to the people.

Shaft Is Aimed at
Hifalutin Singing
by Baptist Pastor
Dallas, Tex., Dec. 2.—Woman's
i work, evangelism and foreign missions
were discussed at tod&y's session of
the Baptist general convention of
Texas.
Dr. I. E. Gates, San Antonio, pre-
sented the report on evangelism. He
deplored "hifahitin singing cam-
paigns" which he said were so much
in vogue. The best way to advertise
a church is from the pulpit, he said.
Mrs. J. C. Williamson, Austin, re-
porting on women's work, recounted
efforts to get more. Baptists In Texas.
Rev. A. P. West of Houston, read a
report on foreign missions.
• Judge O. S. Lattimore In a plea for
aid for the University Baptist church
at Austin, told how this church was
now more than $130,000 In debt and
offered a resolution that a special col-
lection be taken up in every Baptist
church in Texas the first Sunday In
January to help wipe out this debt.
Judge Lattimore said that there
were more than 800 young men and
wcjmen of the Baptist faith attending
the university and that the need of
the ehurch_,was evident. He pointed
out that the Catholics, Presbyterians
and Methodists had churches right at
the university to take care of the
spiritual needs of the students of
those denominations.
The resolution was referred to the
executive board for action.
