Sugar For Foreign Demands.
»Asa«»« iated PreM Dispatch )
Washington, Aug, 20.—After a
careful survey of the sugar situation
the food administration in June stat-
ed that if the requirements outlined
for the civil population were adher-
ed to there would be no sugar famine.
Since this statement was made new
foreign demands have besn received;
but these were met by dropping our
ration, Aug. 1. from J to 2 pounds
per month per person for home use.
I'ublia eating places may therefore
serve only 2 pounds for every ninety
meals. This Includes sugar used in
preparation of food, as well as that
served at table.

brilliant war news and home events of fa-

by relatively wide movements In speculative

Apropos of that understanding, the pres-

coincident with another advance In Liberty

maximum, reached on a very large turnover,
compares with the year's minimum of 97.20.
Shippings were the active and strong fea-

a consolidation of the leading American

by Cuban American Sugar, which dropped
