Student art exhibit displays
wide range of talent
By JOHN MCGEE
staff writer
The Student Art Exhibit opened on Nov. 3
n the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. This exhibit
displays the work of students currently enrolled in art
classes, ranging from freshmen to seniors. The gallery
demonstrated a great deal of diversity in art styles
between all of the students' contributions.
One interestingly styled piece was "Nude" by
Brianna McCabe. At first glance, there appeared to be
no image on the paper. Upon closer inspection, were
angular and circular impressions that created the
form of a woman. This piece was interesting in that
the image was captivating without the use of color.
A prominent sculpture in the exhibit was
"The Archer" by Ed Eldridge. The large sculpture is of
a robotic man who is kneeling with a bow and arrow,
and is comprised entirely of computer parts. An old
monitor without a tube makes up its head, while the
body is constructed of old CPU frames. The face and
eyes are even made from Dell logos.
Another beautifully styled work was "Bang"
by Megan Keough. This pop art piece was of a woman
holding a smoking gun pointed at the viewer under
the words "Killer Blonde" in vibrant yellow and red.
The woman depicted has pure white skin which makes
for a good contrast of color with her dress, eyes and
hair. The painting is also flecked with red paint as if to
give the viewer an idea of what the woman has just
done.
The Student Art Exhibit will be on display in
the Fine Arts Center until Nov. 13
