Study Abroad Highlights
Nursing Students in London-Spring 2008
Dr. Marilyn Duran took 17 Nursing students to London from
May 27th to June 12 % 2008.
Some of the students said of the trip:
"It has opened my eyes to different cultures and allowed me to see how different and alike
people so far away are. Professionally, I will have a more open mind when caring for
others."
"Personally, I see a very different side to universal healthcare and what it entails. This trip
has changed my personal opinions on nursing care in Europe and how it compares with
nursing in the USA. One of the lecturers discussed the importance ofprivacy and dignity;
this lecture was a great reminder to me to never forget humanity and compassion when
one is nursing."
"All in all, this program provided a wonderful opportunity to combine learning, traveling,
and pleasure into one pleasurable experience."
Dr. Duran will be taking another group of Nursing students to England again in Spring
2009. If you are interested, contact her at duran@tarleton.edu.
Broaden your horizons.
