Jerry Lynn Schafer Myearold
son of Mr and Mrs Willie Schafer
was taken to the Shattuck hospi-
tal Prrlday afternoon with what
Was thought at the time to be a
ruptured appendix
He underwent surgery at five
oclock that evening The appendix
was not ruptured and he came
through the operation In tine shape
Mrs Schafer Is with him and
will stay until he Is able to come
home

Pampa spent the weekend here-
with Mr and Mrs J O Lee
Mrs Waters is a cousin of Mrs
Lee and will be remembered as

found a weather balloon Sunday
evening on their way home from
Shattuck Mr Price and train
crew found a similar weather
Instrument recently
Mrs Price noticed the orange
parachute attached to the instru-
ment on a hill about a fourth ov
b mile off the highway and having
seen the other weather balloon
had Larry walk over and Investi-
gate
The box Itself was made of
plastlo and unlike the one found
by Mr Price did not contain any
directions The balloon was broken
but Larry believes it would have
been about 2ft In diameter when
inflated
Mrs L A McAdams is visiting
at Big Spring with her cousin
Tom Black Mr and Mrs Earl
Btuckey went to Wichita Falls last
weekend and Mrs McAdams will
join them there and return to
Canadian with them
