We frequently hear the re-
mark that Thomas, Richard or
Henry is a hard drinker. In
the course of onr observation
we have never yet seen a "hard

the utmost ease and the gratest
facility. They do not even
make wry faces over their pota-

The School Examinations.—
A representative of the Banner
attended the examination exer-
cises ot the pupils at the public
schools on yesterday morning.
The pupils very generally an-
swered all questions propound-
ed, promptly and accurately.
There was quite a large atten-
dance of the parents and friends
of the scholars, who expressed
themselves as thoroughly satis-
fied with the progress made by
the children. To state the case
briefly, our public schools are a
triumphant success.
