man that there is no less than
twenty-one graduates of the
states' industrial institution at
Huntsville now living in town
and in the suburbs. Most of
them are lawabiding, but some
of them are as slippery as eels.

Col. John G. Carmichearl, of In-
dustry, Austin county, was in
town on Monday. He reports
crops in his section of country
as being generally good, though
on some farms lice have ap-
peared on the cotton in patch-
es. Considerable cotton is in

beautiful city. The happy
elopists spent a couple ot days
at Giddings, after which they
left for Austin. Mrs. Williams,
before leaving requested her
husband not to open any letters
that might come for her. A
letter came to her address in
the handwriting of the lady's
father. Dr. Williams opened
the letter and the letter opened
the doctor's eyes. Sheet-iron
thunder and artificial lightning!
The letter was written in Ala-
bama, very recently, and said
not a word about coming to
Texas. He then took the first
train up the road making in-
