A Murderer Jugged.—Adri-

ANORD1NANCE.
TO Provide for the receipt of subscrip-
tions, and for the erection of a build-
in# lor white Public Free Schools of
the city:
Be it ordained by the City Council of
the city of Brenham :
Sec. 1 Whereas, many citizens of
the city <>f Brenham, have subscribed a
fund for thu erection of a building for
the Public Free Schools of the city;
and whereas, it has become necessary
that the fund aforesaid should be col-
lected and applied to the purpose for
which it was intended ; that, Messrs.
E. Reichardt and Julian McFarland be
and are hereby appointed a committee
to receive the said subscription, and to
superintend and supervise the erec-
tion of said building.
Sec. 2. Said committee, before enter-
ing upon the discharge of their dnties
shall execute a goo4 and sufficient
bond, with one or more wcuritios, pay
able to the city of Brenham in the sum
of fifwn thousand dollars, conditioned
on the faithful discharge of their du-
ties; as herein set out.
Sec. 8 The said committee are in-
structed and authorized to enter into a
contract in the name of the citv with
some suitable person or persons for the
erection of said building, taking bond
from said contractor for the completion
of tho same in accordance with the
contract; provided that said committee
shall not, contract to pay for said build-
ing a sum exceeding ten thousand
dollars.
Sue. 4. The city hereby pledges
its good faith anduredit to make trood
and. pay any and all deficiencies there
may be in said subscription, by reason
of non-payment on part of the subscrib
ers to said fund.
Sac. 5. This finance shall go
into force and have effect from and
after the day of its passage.
