TIHI^r* ANNUAL SESSION.
The Public Free School* of Brenham will open the First Monday of Sept,
,1877, and continue forty weeks. The Session is divided into two term* of
twenty weeks each.
The schools comprise three departments, viz: PRIMARY', GRAMMAR,
IIlGH SCHOOL. The course in each department is thoroughly graded, and
the scope of instruction embraces it systematic training in all tin- department'.
The student upon tho completion of the High School course is prepare' to
enter the Freshman or Sophomore class ot our best colleges, or qualified to
enter with credit ap ofestdonal life.
For course of instruction see Superintendent's Report.
Tuithm is free to all residents in the city, who are between the ages of 7 and
10, provided they have resided here six mouths or more, and to non residents
who are tax payers in the city.
All are charged a matriculation fee of two dollars at at entrance, which fee
must be paid in advance.
Non-residents and ali those not entitled to free tuition, will be required to
p:iy the following rates monthly in advauce:

The Schools are under the Superintendence of Prnf. W.C. Bote, assisted by
acorps of ncromplished teachers. The names of the teachers aie hs follows:
Prof. W. O. Rue, Principal High School; Prof. A. C. Jessen, Assistant Princi-
pal High School; Mrs W A. Lockett, Teacher 1st Grammar School; Miss Ma
rv Rial. Teacher 2d Grammar School; Miss Lizzie Matthews Teacher 1st Pri
mary; Mr. Robert Tarver, Teacher 2d Primary; Miss Mary B. Mclntyre,
Teacher, 3d Priinarv.
The success alreadv attained, warrants the Board of Trustees in assuring
the public that no wherein the State are better facilities, or more reasonable
rates offered. The reputation, which our Schools have secured, speaks for
itself and thev need no further praise from us.
The city collector, Mr.C. II. Carlisle is ready to issue receipts for matricula-
tion fees, as well as f. r tuition as per above regulation, lie will also be pres-
ent at the opening of the Schould to a'tend to like duties. ,

Be it ordained by the Gty Council of
the city of Brenham :
Src. 1 Whereas, many citizens of
the city > f Brenham, have subscribed a
fund for the erection of a building for
the Public Free Schools of the city
and whereas, it has become necessary
that the fund aforeswid should bo col-
lected and applied to the purpose for
which it vrs intended that, Messrs.
E. Reichardt and Julian MrFarland In*
and are hereby appointed a con,ml fee
to receive the said subscription, «i d te
superintend and supervise the tret-
tion of said building.
Sec. 2. Said committee, before enter
ing upon the discharge of their dnties
shall execute a good and sufficient
bond, with one or more securities, pay-
able to the city of Brenham in the huib
of fifteen thousand d liars, conditioned
on the faithful discharge of their du
ties; as herein set out.
SEC. 3 The said committee are in
structed and authorized to enter into a
contract iu the name of the city with"
