. Kimaway,
FROM me three months ,ago, an African negro man named Arch; he is
about 25 years. of age, a tall slim fellow, very black, some scars on his fore-
head, also some small scars on each side of his cheek, and a long foot; he has
been taken up five or six times, since he ran on" from me, and made his esoape
every time; he has broke irons off twice since he lef. mo; he is a great rascal,
and has as much sense as an American negro; he speaks but little English. I will
pay any man a liberal reward who, will take up said negro, have him ironed
and delivered, or secured so that I get him. My brother, P. D. McNeel had an
African negro man that ran offin company with Arch when he left me first; his
name is Ioxa, about 28 years of age, scarred on the face and on each side of his
cheeks, and very much cut and scarred round his neck: he is of 3'ellow com-
plexion, and a stout built man, speaks some English : he ran off last year, and
was taken in .Robertson's colony. I have no doubt he is somewhere in that sec-
tion, now; he has nevervbeen seen since he left; he is a very smart, sensible ne-
gro, and will make his escape unless securely ironed. A liberal reward will be
paid for one or both of them, if delivered to me at my plantation, eight miles
below Brazoria, ior secured so the negroes can be got. In case thoy are taken
up, I do nottwant them put to work.

THE CITS' F BUFFALO,
BujJ-'aloc Bayou, Texas.
THIS cit3",most eligibly situated, and nearly equidistant from the most im-
portant towns in Texas, and decidedly the best location in the country,
as well from the quality of its well timbered laud and internal productive ad-
vantages, with a pure snnns of.fresh water, is now being-laid out into lots for
pubiic or private sale. The city of Buffaloc is distant lrom the Brazos about
22 miles.; from the mouth ol the San Jacinto 10 miles, and from the city of
Houston about 8 miles. As the Butialoe bayou, above its junction with the
San Jacinto river, and even up to the levee of the projected city widens to a con-
siderable extent, vessels that can cross Red Fish bar may sail u,j, in one day and
discharge their cargoes. The proprietors of the town have determined as soon
as practicable to run a rail road to strike the Brazos seven miles above Bolivar,
and to use every effort, having considerable capital at their control, to rival
any city or town in Texas. Application for lots to be made to Mr. Meri-
wether W. Smith, on the premises. Houston, Jul-.0 1837. 77

SITUATED in the county of Washington, sixty miles northwest of the city
of Houston, thirty five miles east of the town'of Vashington, and six miles
west of the San Jacinto River, in the centre of a high, beautiful and undulating
district of country, distinguished for health, good water, and soil.
It is expected that a new county will be organized, at the next session of
congress, embracing this section of countrv. in which event, the town of Mont
gomery from its central position, must be selected as the seat of iustice.
The San Jacinto affords an excellent keel boat navigation to this point .
The most direct route from the city of Houston to Robertson's colony and Red'
River settlements, and from Bevils settlement to Washington, pass through this--town.
The great extent of good land lying contignous, and its increasing and
enterprising agricultural population, cannot fail of making this one of the most'
flourishing inland towns in this republic.
Sales of lots at auction will take place-in the town of Montgomery, on the-
first Monday in September ensuing, and continueor three days.
Terms of sale, rix, and twelve months credit. Notes with approved security
