THE proprietors ofthe genuine Ro wand's Tonic Mixture, having
felt the want of an efficient popular remedy for a particular class
of affections, which may be embraced under the jiame of Chronic 01
Jong-standing complaints, have been induced to prepare Rowahd's
Altebativz, or compound spirituous extract of tarsapariUa. A n
uaUeratite mtdidni' is one whiah tff'-ct an entire dianee in the
syittmj without rnanifesting any sensible mode of action. It is to lie
' resorted to in almost all chronic or long-standing complaints, with a
view of subverting the long-accustomed diseased acaon, and of sub-
stituting for it, the twte ana peculiar influence ofthe medicine itself,
which must be made to harmonize with the operations of nature in
' health; so that after the use of the medicine for a period longer ot
aborter, according to the d oration of the disease andprospects of re--covery,
it may be laid aside nd thr health gradually become com
pletely re-established.
- The diseases -which yeid to thealterative treatment are as follows,
viz: Scrofula or king's evlih syphilis, and all rowreaf diteatet, mer-
, "atrial diieates brought On by the impioper use of rnecury; consump-
tion, liver complaint, jaundice, augue cake, rheumatism, gout, tcur
cy, eancer,'aWcctiont of the tktn, as tetter, biles, ring wormi, tcabl
Mad, itch, pimples on theface, etc. No medicine is more efficient as
a 'spring purifier! and to promote recovery after an attack of aciuf
disease. Sarsaparilla constitutes the prominent ingredient in the a
bove preparation. By a process peculiarly our own, we obtain an
j extract contsningalhta essential and desirable properties in the most
Concentrated form. Itis honestly asserted that one tea-spoonful con
lairs all the virtues of a drachm ofthe solid root, and a pint of com
pound syrup or .sarsaparilla may be extemporaneously made by.add-
ine two tablo-spooniul of this spirituous extract to a pint of simple
yiup (
RowA2n's Yismitcoi. This palatable medicine has the special
property of destroying. and expelling worms from the human sys-
tsm, and at the same time cleansing tpe bowels of the slime and mu-
cus in which they were imbedded, and by invigorating the digestive
Organs, prevents their further accumulanon.

TTSX TOWN OF BARRJSBVna. .
HEjpublic attention is now called to this eligibU location, with a-
confidence that the time has arrived for its resuscitation.. -Rivalry
and litigation have untd lately prevented the proprietors from press
ing it n the public notice; uui an migauon nas oecu anungiu, uie
rival inttrests of Harnsburg and Hamilton have been consolidated
under the common name of Harrisburg, and trom the growing com-
merce of this river, and the increasing difficulty of navigauon above
this point, the proprietors feel no doubt that the day of success is at
hand. . ...
The public will remember, that many years ago, this point was se-
lected and laid offas a town; that its commerce was equal, its build-
ings as good, and its inhabitants us numerous ns those of any other
town of Southern Texas. In the spring of 1836, Harrisburg was
!,.,. !,...!, iu;rani. Tn ttin fall of tnat year, belore much had
been done towards rebuilding Harrisburg, the influence ofthegov-
nnmint wn m'ven to n iioint a few Hides above on the bayou The
difficulty of making satisfactory titles at that time in Harnsburg,
prevented any attempt to compete with the new seat of government,
and the place remains as it was, excep. that all arrangements are
made for making good titles to lota, tor showing the grounds, and
(with a spirit of liberality uulhepart of thepropnetors), for improv-
ing, the roads to the interior, so as almost to insure a speedy and hand-
some profit to those who purchase either forbusiness or speculation.
Two saw-mills are now in successful and profitable operation, and a
ship-yanl will in the course of the coming fall, be prcparedfor build-
ing and repairing'Steamboats and small vessels. We have no stone
quarries, it is true, but we have good materials for making bncks,
andaiiabuudanceofgood'timber. and the proprietors hope that the
early buudingsin HarnsburgwM Deoi amorepermaueui. ui,t
than those of neighboring towns. Liberal encouragement wdl be
given to mechanics, tradesmen, and merchants, who-make an early
settlement in Harrisburg, both as to price and time.. One-tenth of
the whole proceeds of the sales of property is appropriated to the im-
provement of roads. The pronriet'irs contemplate the organizauon
in the course of this summer or "next fall, a great Importing Compa-
ny, to trade directly with nauons beyond the Atlantic, .which if suc-
cessfully organized, must produce wraith to the company, success to
the town, and prosperity to the county. .
The situation of Harrisburg is too favorably known in Texas, to
require comment I have therefore only touched onwhat the proprie-
tors arc doing. Their agent (with full powers) may generally be
found at Harrisburg, and always ready to wait on those requiring
his assistance in this business. A. BRISCOE, Agent.

THE Ull'Y OF SABlNfi The question has often been asked
" why there is no city laid out at the mouth of the Sabine ?"
This interrogatory is now answered. Public expectation and public
anxiety will no longer be thwarted. The undersigned have laid out
a place called the c.ty of Sabine city, on the west bank of the Pass
Uadingfrom the bay into the gulf of Mexico. "The attention of the
adventurous, the enurprising, and the capitalist, is invited to the
most eligible point, than which for trade and commerce, a better can-
not be found west of New Orleans.. It is easy of access to vessels
not exceedim; 9J feet draft, possessing a good anchorage along the
banks upon which the city is to be built of from 10 to 20 feet water;
and the harbor is protected from the influence' of any storm. Nature
seems to have intended this point for a great commercial mart. The
trade of the country which mt-st here pay tribute, possesses as rich
a sod and dense a population as any other portion of Texas. All the
country east of the Trinity river, must ship their produce through the
Sabine Pass, and receive their goods, groceries and provisions
, by the same. . ....
An prouuet oi tne ncn ana aeaiiay iana, wim its uuuieii&eauu ut-
most boundless groves of timber that are upon the waters ofthe Sa-
bine, Neches and the Angelina, must all go to market through the
outlet of the pass. Steam boat navigauon has been successfully
tried upon the waters of the Sabine and Neches; the steamers Ve-
locipede and Wisconsin, measuring 125 tons, ascended the Sabine
river for more than three hund-ed miles above its mouth. The most
papulous counties in the republic will, when the trade is opened, ship
their cotton to the gulf by the city of Sabine. These counties are
Jefferson, Jasper, Sabine, Shelby, San Augustine, and Nacogdoch-
es, every facility dl be given to those who wish to make improve-
ments, and shares ran be had by application to the-stockholders and
lots for buddings and dweiungs com tne agent at meaty.
