A NEEDED REFORM.
If society becomes corrupt the
fault should bo charged to tho
training of tho individuals that
compose it. Thoro are men who, in
ordor to make mono}', are follow-
ing hellish occupations. Thoy are
not boing guided aright, neither
aro thoy rightly loading others.
This is wrong—it is almost boyond
toleration. But there is still an-
other mistake almost equally as
wide: Men aro being educated
so as to make lifo moro easy; so
that tho youth may bo bettor pro-
pared to meet the stern conflicts

About three years ago the agent for
Acker's English Remedy first called" at his
town, and since then tho number of testimo-
nials that have been sent in to Carlton &

Remedy, and the many cures effect-
ed surprises them. Tliey wish it
to bo thoroughly understoo I that for all
colds, hoarseness, asthma, croup, whooping
cough, all phthisical troubles, thoy havo

A Captain's Fortunate Discovery
Capt. Coleman, Schr. Weymouth, plying
botween Atlantic City and N. Y., had been
troubled with a cough so that he was unable
to sleep, and was induced to try Dr. lung's
New Discovery for Consumption. It not
only gave him instant relief, but allayed the
extreme soreness in his breast. His children
were similarly affected and a single dose bad
the same happy effect- Dr. King's New Dis-
covery is now the standard remedy in the
Coleman household and on board the
schooner. Free TrialBottles of this Stan-

California Carries on a large
business in soa shells, which are
gathered on its coasts and shipped
to Europe. One firm has a con
traot to ship forty tons of shells
every sixty days. They are worth
from $700 to $1,000 per ton. In
France theso aro transformed into
pearl buttons, brooohos, shaw
clasps, knifo handles and mlaic
work.
Tho following is from the Farm-
er s Record: Tho plan of singling
out merchants with whom to trade
by the Allianco is meeting with
disapproval in the localities where
it has been tried. There is no
question but that tho plan opens up
a broad road for swindling on the
part of the merchants who is thus
given a monopoly of trade. A well
posted man had rather buy goods
on his own judgment than on a
merchant's invoice of first prices,
because thoso invoices may bo so
easily duplicated with twice the
per cent agreed upon added. Bo-
sides this all honest competition is

Many a sufferer wants to know that. Well,

"And it took only one bottle to do it,'
" said a gentleman, speaking of Parker's Hair
Balsam. I had a run of fever, and when 1
got well of thct my hair began to fall out so
last as to alarm me. I really didn't know
what to do, until one day a friend said, 'Try
Parker's Htir Bnlsam.' That was some
months ago. What surprised mo was the
fact that one bottle was enough. 1 expected
to use a dozen." Cleaned, highly pertumed,
not oily, not a dye. Restores original color.

Carlton & Nash toll us ot a remarkable
cure effected by Ackcr's Blood Elixir. A
gentleman was literally covered with sores,
brought on by neglecting his system; ulcers
or boils came out all over him, but a

cured him. They say that tluyi will warrant
this as being tho host blood medi-
