The holy seat Is nothing more nor
tess than a wooden cU&ir which, ac
cording to pious tradition, was used
by the Apostle St. Peter as first Chris-
tian Bishcp of Rome. The ancient
framework of yellow oak, all worm
eaten and decayed, la preserved behind
the tribune of the BtuHJca of St. Peter
in the glgantio glided bronio church
designed by Boatful, wbith is upheld
by the four great fathers of tho church
—namely. Saints Chrystom, Athana
slus, Ambrose and Augustine. From
tho time that the relic vfis placed in
the bronze chair by Bernini until the
year 1867—that Is to say, for a period
of considerably over t&o centuries-
no one had ever set eyes upon it. But
in that year, on the occasion of the
-ighteenth century of the martyrdom
of the Apostle St. Peter, Pope Piua
IK. ordered it to be exposed for th<>
veneration of the faithful.

Fritz Mehlmann, farmer, living six milts
from Brenham, on Prairie Itill Hoad, suyB :
"It is live or six years since I first felt the ef-
fects of kidney trouble. During that time 1
have had some very severe attacks, often be-
ing laid up for days at a time, not ablo to
work at all. To stoop caused excruciating
pain; I could not sleep or rest at night with
any comfort; felt tired and unrefreshed in
the morning ; everything I undertook to do
was a drag. 1 was glad when the day was
over; and there was also a distressing and
annoying weakness of the kidney secretions
which was particularly noticeable at night.
I used medicines of various kinds and was
treated by doctors but received no relief
whatever. I was laid up for nearly three
weeks just before 1 went to Jos. Tristram's
for Doan's Kidney Pills and commenced the
treatment. Throe days elapsed before I
noticed any improvement, but after that the
pain gradually grew less and less until it
disappeared. It is about two months since I
quit taking them and I have had no trouble
during that time. I am and always will bo
a worm friend to Doan's Kidney Pills for
ihey did for me what doctors and other
medicines failed to do, viz, Cure me."

knows that this paper aims to advertise only
the best in Its columns, and when he saw
Chamberlain's Fain Balm advertised therein

bottlo of it for bis wife, who for eight weeks
had sufl'eied with the most terrible pains in
her back and could get no relief. He says;
'After using the Pain Balm for a few days
iny wife said to me, 'I feel as though born
anew,' and before ueing the enlire contents of
tho bottle the unbearable pains had entire-

household duties." He is very thanklul and
