sented to the undersigned, it has been
made to appear that "The First National
linnk of Brenham," in the city of Bren-
ham, in the county of Washington, and
Stateof Texas, has complied with all the
>rovisions of the Revised Statutes of the
United States required to he complied with
before an association shall be authorized
to commence the business of Hanking.
Now therefore, I, John S. I.angwortliy,
acting Comptroller of the Currency, do
hereby certify that "The First National
Hank of Hrenham," in the city of Brenham,
'n the county of Washington, and State of
Texas, is authorized to commence the bus-
iness of Banking as provided in Section
Kilty one hundred and sixty-nine ol the
Revised Statutes of the United States.

To declare and definitely establish a por-
tion of the western boundary line of
Market street in the City of Brenham.
Be it ordained by the City council of the
City of Brenham,
Sec. i. That whereas it is desirable to
fix and more definitely ascertain a portion
of the western boundary line of Market
street in the City of Brenham, the follow-
ing line is hereby-fixed and established as
the western boundary line of that portion
of the said Market street lying between the
southeast corner of Ba^sett & Baasett's
banking house and the road bed of the
II, 8c T. C. R. R. Co. Beginning at the
southeast corner of Tiassett & BasteU's
. banking house, a permanent fixture, as a
starting point and running from said cor-
rerof said house S. 1ST-# E. at a varia-
tion of ip degrees, a direct line to the; H.
k T. C. Ry., traclt. whicti said line is
'declared to be S. 77 0, W. 25 feet, from an
iron pin set in slid Market street, which,

AN ORDINANCE
To provide for the payment of the current
expenses of the , city for the months of
April, May, June, July and August, 1883.
Be ft ordained by the_City Council of
the City of Brenham,
That, whereas it is necessary to provide
for the payment of the current expenses of
the city until its revenue derivable from its
occupa'ion taxes is collectable. Therefore,
Skc. i. The Mayor and Finance Com-
mittee of the Cily Council are hereby cm-
powered and instructed to contract to pay
interest to some responsible person who
will cash the warrants of the city drawn
against the general fund for officers sala-
ries and other current expenses for the
months of April, May,'June, July and Au-
gust, 1883.
Sec. 2. Said contract'shall provide for
the payment to holders of the face value
of their warrants, "and shall obligate the
city to pay interest thereon not to eiceed
twelve per cent, per annum for such time
as may be until said warrants are paid by
the treasurer of the city.
Sec. 3. The sum of one hundred dol-
lars, or so much thereof as may be neces-
sary, is hereby appropriated lor the pur-
pose of paying such interest as may be
contracted tor and incurred.
Sic. 4. This ordinance shall go into ef-
fect and have force from and after its pas-
sate.

To amend the revised ordinances of the
City of Brenham approved April 2,1880,
by creating ordinance 191a.
Be it ordained by the city council of the
City of Brenham:
Sec. !. That the revised ordinances of
the City of Brenham, approved April 2,
1880, and published in book form be and
are amended so as to create ordinance 191a
as follows:
Ord. 191a. It shall be unlawful for any
person to discharge any gun. pistol or
other fireirms at any place within the cor-
poratdimits of the city. Any person who
shall violate this ordinance, shall, on con-
yiction thereof, before the mayor, be fined
not less than five dollars nor more than
one hundred ddlars.
Sic. 2. This ordinance shall go into
force and have effect from and after its pas-

Sec. I. That all holders of orders on
the treasurer, warrants or other script of
the city, drawn against the general fund,
and issued prior to May 1st, 1883, be and
are hereby required to present the same to
the treasurer for registration before pay-
ment thereof.
Sec. t. It shall be the duty of the treas-
urer to register such script in a book to be
kept for that purpose in the order in which
it is presented, stating the number and
date of such script, the date of registration,
the name of the payee, and the amount for
which it is drawn.

to May 1st, 1883, shall be paid by the
treasurer unless the same has been duly
registered, and then only in the order in
which it is registered, and out of the fund
created for that purpose.
Sec. 5. It shall be the duty of the "city
council to create and establish for the pay-
ment of such script a fund to be entitled
the "floating debt" fund, which said fund
shall be created by the appropiation firotn
time to time of such surplus funds as may
remain after providing for the current ex-
penses-of the city, or in such other man-
ner as may be hereafter provided.
Sec. 6. Nothing in this ordirttuics
shall be taken or construed to effect the
status of script heretofore issued for the
purchase of streets, which shall be paid as
stipulated in the face thereof without reg-
istration.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall go into
effect and have force from and after its
passage.
