The Way It Works.
Women are peculiar. They are sweet,
but we repeat it*—they are peculiar.
When a husband dies the widow
covers herself and A good space ad-
jacent to herself with crape. She
dresses in crape. She is very sorry.
But after a little while she lays a lit-
tle aside. That indicates that she is
not as sorry as she was. Later on
she lays aside more crape. Then
she gets a black dress with white
spots in it. That indicates that she
is not half as sorry as you heard she
was. After awhile she puts on a white
dress with black spots in it, an evi-
dence that he isn't dead much and if
he is she doesn't care much. All at
once, then, she comes out in white!
That means she has found another
fellow and. is glad No. 1 has passed
in his checks. Mourning in heart is
all right; mourning in costme is a
fraud and parody uncommon sense.

Cult kit of the (aotor-OH Bean.
, Ti»e castor-oil beau is a very rank,
coarse growing plant, and requires a
rich soil and high cultivation to in-
sure a remunerative crop of the
seeds, or beans, as they are called.
The plant will flourish in good soils
anywhere in the South, as well as in
many of our Northern States; but ing Bros,
the first thing to be taken into con-
siderations by the cultivator is a
market for his crop, which can rare-
ly be disposed of to advantage ex-
cept at the oil-mi l. where oil is ex-
tracted. At the present time th*>
piiucipal eastor-o.l mills are located
in Missouri—St Louis being the
center of this industry—and a few
manufacturers control the entire cast
toi-oil trade of -the country. It is
quite probable, however, that some
of the cottonseed-oil mills in the
South would work up the beans, pn>
vided they could obtain a sufficient
quantity to pay. Phnters in the
South who may take an interest in
this industry should «ui on the own-
ers ot the oU mills and see what ar
rangement t can be madf. Castor oil
is and has been scarce, and com-
mands a high pi ice.
Try salt for sore throat, mid onions

are sometimes very effectual.
