I herewith notify my customers and pat-
rons that I am about to make a change in
my business, and from 1st of December,
shall sell for the lowest cash figures (and
only for cash).
I shall reduce my prices to make it an
object for all to call and see for themselves.
I am able to stand all competition in my
line and have therefore resolved to bring
my business to a cash basis, as my expe-

greater by the adoption of the cash system,
saving my patrons the enormous high prices
they have to pay on a credit to the credit
houses.
Call and see me and convince yourself.
And furthermore my business will lie
strictly conducted on the one price system,

Circumstantial evidence: An
otter was killed by a milkman
on the bank of the Maple river,
near Ida Grove, the other day.
The finding of an otter is jsorne-
thing remarkable, but the fact
that a milkman was at the river
in order to make the capture is
still more strange—yes, passing
strange.

The first number of the Chi-.
nese-Amcrican, issued in New
York, the first Chinese paper
ever published in the United
States east of San Francisco,
has reached us. The paper is a
weekly and is printed altogether
in the Chinese language, except
one column ot editorial com-
ment, which is printed in En-
glish. There are 100,000 Chi-
nese east of the Alleghanies of
which 8000 are in New York,
with 900 laundries in the city
alone. Mr. Wing Ching Foo,
the editor, opens with a bitter
attack on the Chinese embassy
at Washington, and declares he
intends to keep fighting upon
that line. The advertisements
so far have been mostly of soap,
starch, washing machines and
patent wringers. Types are
not employed in Chinese print-
ing, so the editors' manuscript
is copied by a Chinese scribe,
engraved by the photo-engrav-
ing process and printing from a
plate.

Are you disturbed at night and broken of
your rest by a sick child suffering and cry-
ing with the excrutiating pain of cutting
teeth ? If so, go at once and get a bottle cif
Mrs. Winslow's Soothing Syrup. It will
relieve the poor little sufferer immediately
—depend upon it; there is no mistake
about it. There is not a mother on earth
who has ever used it, who will not tell you
at once that it will regulate the bowels and
give rest to the mother, and relief arid health
to the child, operating like magic. It is
perfectly safe to use in all cases, and pleas-
ant to the taste, and is the prescription of
one of the oldestand best female physicians
and nurses in tl" United States. Sold ev-
erywhere. 2$ ccnts a bottle.

English Femsle Bitters is an iron and
vegetable tonic, prepared specially for the
cure of ills that afflict female sex. It bu'lds
up and strengthens feeble, broken down
and worn out constitutions; repairs dam-
ages inflicted by years suffering, regulates
the system, adds iron to impoverished
blood anil makes permanent cures. It tones
the stomach, imparts a keen appetite, aids
digestion, relieves sick headache, acts gent-
ly upon the liver, cutes swimmimg of the
head, and palpitation of the heart.
For headache, constipation and bilious-
ness, use Bailey's Saline Aperient.
If you want to find a logician,
go to your tailor. The other

REVIVING AN ANCIENT MAXIM.
"Till the earth grows old, and the stars
cold and the leaves of the Judgment Book
unfold, forever in this world will man suffer
ills untold." The truth of these lines can-
not be impeached, yet much of human mi-
sery and physical suffering could be obvi-
ated if the people would only accept prac
lical advice. Probably no complaints are
more frequent than Indigestion, Headache,
languor and Liver and Kidney Complaint,
especially at this season of the year, yet
mankind will suffer'or be dosed without re-
lief, when a box Of Swayne's Pills would ef-
fect a thorough cure.

An / inexperienced reporter
rebuked: "This will never do,"
siid the local editor to the new
reporter. "You say that 'The
man was killed.' That is too
tame. You seould have said
that he was 'crushed into a
shap^css mass,' or, his 'reek-
ing corpse presented a ghastly
sight.' Then you make the
bold statement that 'the doctor
was not needed.' 'The servi-

how you should have put it,
That's journalism, that is."
