The following notico in a Mon-
tana newspaper is not calculated
to soothe the feelings of the thief
who stole Mr. Sampson's bay mare:
"The night of tho 14th inst. a dark
bay mare, fifteen hands high, small
white star in forehead, both hind
feet white, was stolen from the
stable of Ira Sampson, the under-
signed. 1 will givo tho mare and
$50 in cash for full and reliable
particulars regarding the furioral
of the thief. That's the kind of a
man I am."
An Enduring Reputation.
No better evidence of the merit of any
original article exists than an enduring repu-
tation founded against all the attempts of
the envious ana piratical imitators, who
have endeavored to palm off their worthless
substitutes, and which are offered for sale
through the medium of unprincipled
dealers. It has been the worthy fortune of
Glenn's Sulphur Soap to survive all such en
croachments, and its prestige and rights
have been sustained by legal decision This
article possesses extraordinary virtues as a
skin remedy and beautifler, and its excellent'
has been proved and extolled by the testi-
mony of a large number of persons in every
section of this country; its salo oven extend-
ing largely into foreign lands. This skilful
combination of soap with sulphur, and
which is well known to tho public by long
and persistent advertisinr as "Glenn's Sul-
phur Soap." is the exclusive property of
Charles N. Crittenton, of New York; and U
guard against immitations purchasers should
see that each package bears his name.
Bishop Taylor, on his way down
.the African coast, saw a murderer
put to death. Tho man was let
down into a hole in the ground
seveu feet deep and three feet wide.
As he stood on his foct in the hole
he was slowly burned alive. Then
a sharp stake was driven down-
ward through the 'eng. h of his
body.
The Only Way to Conquer Dyspepsia.
It is perfectly preposterous to introduce
pepsin and other artificial solvents into the
stomach, in the expectation that they will
assist digestion bv acting on the food* itself.
They will not. Nor is it possible thus to
overcome dyspepsia. The only way to con-
quer that disorder, and prevent the numeious
diseases and diabilities which it assuredly
provokes, is to renew the activity of gastric
action by strengthening the s omach, Hot-
tetter's stomach Bitters eradicates the most
inveterate forms of indigestion by restoring
vitality to tho alimentry organs, and those
which are tributary to them. The liver, the
bowels and the nerves, no less than the
stomach, expi riencc the invigorative effects
of that standard tonic, which possesses altera-
tive properties that greatly enhance its bene-
ficial influence, and give a pornianence to its
effects which they would not otherwise pos-
it is estimated that the material
contained in the Chinese wall would
build a wall around tho world six
feet high and two feet thick. Its
cost was probably equal to that of
all tho 100,000 miles of railroad in
the United Statos.

Prom care, hard labor and dis-
appomtment there is no escape.
We inhzrited them from our fore-
fathers and will leave them to our
children when we die. It is useless
to seek refuge from them in this
world, an-1 we go to tho next with
hope only when our appointed
time comes. There is no sense in
moaning or mourning about it or
wandering in the world to find rest,
ease and prosperity. Wo are bet-
ter right here than we are likely
to be anywhere else. The man
who cannot succeed here need not
hope to do better anywhere with
the same work, living and luck.
Hard work and closo living and
keeping at it havo pulled men
through worse troubles than any
of us are in and have made gardens
of rock heaps.
Ben Jones was a capital fellow,
But he was so confoundedly sallow'
That his friends all forsook him.
K'en his sweet heart she shook him,
Which made poor Ben loudly bellow.
Now Ben had a friend named McQueens.
Who told him to take SMITH'S BILE

And now he's as rosy, as any pink posey,
And has married a woman of means.

Says Clara Belle, and rightly,
too. "I don't think any woman in
the world, however, can make a
better wife than the American. She
makes a good mother, and excel-
lent housewife, and in most cases
a business partner equal to French
women. Take the American girl
all around, sho is the best product
of her sex that the world has yet
produced, and at a woman's show
composed of exhibits of all nation
she would take the grand prize

"Well madam " said a fashionable pliysi-
cian|to a wealthy lady patient, "if vou don't
like my prescription, perhaps you Wl better
try Parker's Tonic, or some other quack
stuff." "You don't mean it Doctor," she
answered, "but your advice may be good for
all that. Sometimes what jou call 'quark
stuff" is the best and most scientific medicine,
after all " She got a bottle of Parker's Tonic
aud it cured her of neuralgia arising from
disordered stomach and nerves. She told her
friends, and now they all keep a doctor at
home in the form of Parker's Tonic.
