A Surgical Operation Scientifically Per-
formed.
A few days ago Dr. Simon, a spe
cialist of this city, was summoned
to Latium to assist Dr. Witte, of
Shelby, in removing a stone from
the bladder of an eight year old
child, who was suffering great pain.
The operation was speedily and suc-
cessfully performed, and a very
queer looking stone was taken from
him. It is about the size of a spar-
row's egg, but is rough and has a
honey combed appearance, showing
bright and crystalized spots. The
little sufferer stood the operation
manfully and was getting admirably
weli when last heard from.
Dr. Simon enjoys quite an envias
ble reputation here as an expert and
scientific surgeon, and the Banner
is proud to chronicle his success in
this instance.
We have never seen any thing in
the shape of a Photograph that ex*

The cotton season being virtually
over at Lyons, Mr. E. M. Stoddard,
who has been representing Messrs.
Millroyt& Co. at that place, will be
stationed on the Central between
here and Austin the balance of the
season.
The tennis players of the city are
patting in quite a gcod deal of prac-
tice preparing for the state meet in
November, which they are almost
morally sure will be pulled off in
Brenham.

Miss Maiy E. Rouse, from the
Leipsic Conservatory of Music, will
give a piano recital at the Grand
Opera House Wednesday evening,
October 21st. Program later. Tick-
