Geo. P. Owens visited his new
possessions the Harmon ranch-
north of Holland this week, and
says crops are fine in that sec-
tion. Mr. Owens is highly
pleased with his farm.

A. F. Sartor has recently pur-
chased McCatkey account regis-
ter, which is quite an addition to
his store. The first one broughj;
to Bartlett was purchased by W.
G. Smith some weeks.ago, which
has proven a great success.
At its last meeting, Bartlett
lodge, Knights of Pythias, pre-
sented W. M. Thompson, past
chancellor, a large picture of the
widows' and orphans' home to
be located at Weatherford. This
gift from the members of the
lodge was in token of their es-
teen of Mr. Thompson's1 untiring
labor in, the. order. He has been
faithful, and many times there
would, not we doubt, heena quor-
um at the meottng, had it not
been for his .forts.

in Lorena this .week,
Ed Dueller, the restaurant man,
has returned from his visit to Mar-
lirr. J G Cobb and family of Holland
are here today to attend the fu-

returned Wednesday from' Has-
kell county, where he sold J. J.
Corley and .A. T. Patterson of
near Althea, 600 acres of land.

Just about the time one con-
cludes that last season's cotton
crop is eniirely sold some farmer
comes along and upsets his calcu-
tions. This happened Monday
when Mr. A. P. Johnson bought
50 bales that had been stored be-
tween Corn Hill and Florence,
paying 11 1-2 cents a pound for it.

Mr. H. D. Snepp, formerly
station agent here for the M. K,
& T. railway company, later at
LaGrange, has accepted the po-
sition of secretary of the Hous-
ton Industrial Club.' In speaking
of his arrival in that city the
Houston Post says: "Mi. Snepp
is a man who talks as if he means
what he says. He made a name
for himself in the steamship busi-
ness at Galveston from 1894 to
1904, came ty Houston that year
and left many very pleasant
memories behind him! and has
for the past few years served
with the Missouri, Kansas &
Texas railroad at LaGrange. Mr.
Snepp is a man of agreeable per-
sonality and good business head,
and is regarded by members of
the Houston Industrial Club us
the man for the place which he
has been prevailed upon to ac-
cept." Mr. Snepp'smany friends
in Bartlett wish him eucces in
