FRIENDS OF FAIR PARK
TO HOST
SIXTH-ANNUAL DOG BOWL
ON FIELD OF HISTORIC
COTTON BOWL STADIUM
SUNDAY, MAY 6
Free event to feature a pet/owner look-
alike contest, doggie splash pools, an
agility course, adoptable pets, a fitness
and canine obedience class and other
tail-wagging fun
Running, jumping, splashing and
strutting, pooches and their favorite
people will partake in all sorts of four-
legged fun when Fair Park unlatches
the gates to the Cotton Bowl for the free
Dog Bowl from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May
6. For the sixth year, Dallas’ most
historic football field will transform
into a super-sized dog park for canines
of all sizes to romp and run unleashed!
From splash pools, contests and a one-
stop fitness and canine obedience
class, to affordable vaccines, adoptable
pets and pooch apparel, Dog Bowl will
serve up plenty of pooch-pleasing
excitement.
“What dog lover does not think their
dog is a star? Thanks to Dog Bowl, all
us Dallas area dog lovers can prove it by
watching our four legged pals run,
catch and roll in the grass at the Cotton
Bowl,” said Craig Holcomb, president of
Friends of Fair Park. “Each year, we
have more and more dogs and more and
more people and more and more fun.”
Activities will include an animal-only
agility course, doggie demos, a pet/
owner look-alike contest, splash pools,
plus live music by the jazzy Barri
Pearson. Trainers, veterinarians and
other canine connoisseurs will share
the latest tips and trends in the tail-
wagging world. Pet-product vendors will
be on site offering apparel, pooch
portraits with DFW PhotoButtons,
plaster of Paris paw print canine crafts
($5), giveaways, plus information on
doggy daycares, groomers and other pet
care companies. Luv My Pet will offer
special pricing on vaccinations and
microchipping.
Operation Kindness, Humane Society
of Dallas County, Weimaraner Rescue of
Texas, Lone Star Pyrs and Paws, All
Texas Dachshund Rescue, Recycled
Pomeranians and other rescue groups
will be on site with adoptable pets. Plus
local dog clubs and other animal
welfare organizations will be outside
the entrance gate of the Cotton Bowl at
the Woofstock “tail” gating zone.
Small dog owners will appreciate the
special area on the field where puppies
and petite pooches can play.
A misting tent and dozens of “dip and
sip” splash pools will keep canines cool
and quenched, while dog owners will
have the opportunity to enjoy
refreshments (including beer) and other
concessions for sale.
Dog Bowl is free and open to the
public. The City of Dallas charges $10
for parking within the gates of Fair
Park, or visitors can ride the DART Rail
Green Line to the Fair Park and MLK
stations. Please note: Non-service
animals are allowed on DART only if
they are in crates. Owners will be asked
to observe all current City of Dallas Dog
Park policies while at Fair Park.
Dog Bowl is hosted by Friends of Fair
Park, a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization. Sponsors are MetroPCS,
Green Mountain Energy, Petco, Kevin
Bartholomew, Mary McDermott Cook,
WFAA, 98.7 KLUV, RadioDisney, K104
104.5 FM, Smooth R&B 105.7 FM KRNB,
