New School Spirit
The editorial in last week's Redbird about
school spirit was slightly superfluous. Due to
the delay in publication of the paper and the
surge in school spirit that has swept the Lamar
Tech campus.
No student body could show more spirit fchan was
displayed at last Saturday's football game. Even
the visiting school noticed the difference.
Our campus activities haive been very successful
this year with large crowds attending the dances
where last year no one came at all.
Without a doubt our college is growing in physi-
cal size and it looks like school spirit is keep-
ing pace with academic and physical growth.
We complement the student body members who are
taking active interest in our schools.
Social Ethics
At the school dance Saturday night a commonly
respected social rule was repeatedly fractured.
That of returning a girl to her date after a
"cut in" dance was finished.
Although no one openly demonstrated against this
happening, several people were heard to comment
about it.
Pew girls want to cling to their dates through-
out the evening but on the other hand, they do
not want to be abducted for the night.
Someone went so far as to suggest a "no stag"
rule on the dances, but personally I do not be-
lieve this would be the answer. Tt would help the
situation but not solve it completely.
The only sure preventative is for each indi-
vidual to become more ethics conscious, at the
dances on the campus. This should prevent hard
feelings and help develop our cultural level.

Musical
(Continued from Page 1)
Before the overture is played
or anything happens girls
out and distribute programs.
And then the proverbial open-
ing chorus precedes the girl’s
chorus line featuring legs. I
The show moves through the
the performance which in-
cludes t.he production scenes
and the chaotic activity back
stage during performance.
Then the finale is staged at
which time the homecoming
queen of Lamar Tech will be
introduced. The finale is
truly an extravaganza of furs,
feathers and girls.
The musical will be presented
Tuesday through Friday, Oc-
tober 27-30 in the college
auditorium.
