THE REDBIRD
October 16, 1964
Cardinals
Meet
Marines
The Lamar Tech Card-
inals will try to reinstate
a potent offense Saturday
afternoon at San Diego,
Calif, when the Redbirds
play the San Diego Ma-
rines. After a lackluster
showing against Trinity
in the statistics depart-
ment, the Cards will have
to do much better to
make it over, under,
around, or through the
big and beefy Devildog
line.
The marines we re
defeated 10-3 last week
Base team in San Antonio,
but the marines had been
away from California for
three weeks and were
sluggish.
J u d g ing from previous
records, a potent offense
as well as a bone crushing
defense is in store for
the Redbirds. San Diego
battered The University
of Mexico 58-6. The
defensive.line average 237
pounds per man. Center
and one tackle weigh in at
2 50 each. The ends are
215 and 225. Center and
2 50 each. The ends are
2 15 and 225. Even the
backfield averages over
2 0 0 p ounds. In fact the
only player on the starting
offensive unit is 160
pound scatback Cleveland
Jones who packs 160

The overall record of
the marines stands at 4-1.
A home stadium and
several thousand howling
marines will no doubt aid
the cause. Always a
prime concern when a
team so large confronts
you, LT coaches are
w o r r i ed about injuries.
Next week undefeated,

Mr. Thomson... .please! ”
Please tell me how you manage
to make me look so great on campus.
The only thing I can’t pass now
is a crowd of boys. Those vertical
stretch pants follow the
sleek line of most resistance.
And guarantee the least resistance
on campus. Then, total recovery
(only the pants, Mr. Thomson, not the boys).
The reflex action of your
proportioned stretch pants
is second only to the reflex action
of that Psych major I’ve had my eye on.
And the fit! Mr. Thomson, please,
how did you'get them to fit so well?
I adore you, Mr. Thomson!
Saturday
tenth ranked Texas A&I
comes to Cardinal Sta-
dium.
Coaches Bill Tipton and
Dan Rogas scouted the
Devildogs at San Antonio
and were impressed.
High hopes from here that
the Cardinals we re
equally impressed with
what information came
back and can bring back
a win from California to
keep the record clean.
