Two Beaumont men, Irving
J. Drayer and Jack W.
Moncrief, were among the
19 upperclassmen at The
University of Texas School
of Mediciqe named to
the Alpha Omega Alpha
honor society - - the
school's highest under-
graduate distinction.
Drayer, a forth-year
stud ent, is the son of the
I. M. Drayers, 555 21st
Street, and Moncrief, also
a fourth-year student, is
the son of C. E. Moncrief,
3050, Delaware . They
each attended Lamar Tech,
and Moncrief received his
B. S. here in 1958.
The purpose of the
national honor society,
whose Texas chapter is
now in its 41st year, is to
encourage high ideals in
medical schools, promote
high professional practice
and encourage research.

The faculty and course
content are required by
ECPD standards to be
stable and sound for some
years before accreditation

Dean of the School of
Engineering last Sept. 1,
has been with Lamar Tech
since 1 958 when he was
brought in from Georgia
Tech to be head and pro-
fessor of mechanical
engineering. He succeeded
Dr. Robert V. Andrews as
engineering dean.
Professor Beale likewise
was hired off the Georgia
Tech faculty, arriving at
Lamar Tech in 1955 to
assume the position as
professor and head of
civil engineering.
