Cairo, September 11—A great
crowd of Europeans and natives
welcomed General Wolseley. The
general declars that he has as ye|
perfected no plan am' will require a
couple of days to look about and
consider. .
Naples, September 10—There is
a complete break down here of thy
port autorities in relation to .help
for cholera victims owing to a want'
of medical comforts and stretchers.
The sick are left abandoned in the
streets and no measures are or can
by taken to remove the dead.
Naples, September 11—During
.he past twenty-fyur hours there has
Jeen 800 fresli cases of cholera ahd
300 deaths in this city. The town
presents a gloomy aspect, linages
ot saints wiih alcoiytes bearing
ighted tapers formed at the. head
of processions of women who go
through the streets invoking the
help ol t'ne Virgin. A large crowd
assembled outside the church of
San Gennaro in consequence of a
report that the Virgin Mary had de-
scended upon the alter and bestowed
her blessing upon the people. The
doors of the church were closed and
the crowd attempted to break them
down. Troops arriving, however,
the doors were opened and the mul
titude rushed in and fell upon their
knees and engaged in fervent
prayers.
Naples, September 11. — King
Humbert in visiting the poorer por-
tions of the city to-day, inspected
the christaline. He declined to use
disinfectants while making the tour
of the wards in the hospital. The
king was accompanied by Lis broth-
er, the Duke of Aosas, and the sec-
retary of foreign affairs; The burial,
of tho dead from cholera is found
very difficult owing lo the unusual
large number needing interment.
A soldier suffering from a violent
at'ackuf cholera was taken to the
hospital and in his deierium threw
himself from the widow.

seven years old. is now twenty-three.
He is married, has one child, anl is
quite well off. One of his medals
bears the legend stating that it was

the unparalled feat of selling 1,100
copies of the Times-Star in two
hours and fifteen minutes. This
was on the occasion of Guiteau'sex-

fifteen minutes. The date on which
this heavy sale was made was the
