The Bennett Mine.
The Bennett mine is still in the hands
of the court, but the legal proceedings
have gone so far as to show what the
outcome will be. Wm. Joblin, who was
appointed temporary receiver to inspect
the mine and report, has finished his task
and it is said he has reported to the court
that there is no ground for placing the
mine in the hands of a reeeiver. Mr.
Joblin stated that no reasonable fault
could be found with the present methods
of working the mine. He also came to
El Paso to see about the royalty on the
ore brought here by Mr. Fitz Gerald from
the Bennett. He found that so far from
the royalty being due, the ore had not
even been sampled yet, much less
smelted. Indeed, it is stated that the
I :ason w£y the Internat'ooal smelting
works have not been started is that thia
litigation has made it uncertain about the
amount of ore to be received here in the
immediate future. It looks now at though
Mr. Fitx Gerald would soon be back in
the Bennett at work, providing Mr. Skid-
more makes good to him the loss he has
suffered by the cessation of work on
account of the application for a receiver.
