city met at the rooms of the Young
Men's Christian association yesterday
afternoon to decide,upon an entertain-
ment for ihc anniversary of the associa-
tion, Friday evening, February 11. Mrs
McHatton was called to the ch&lr, snd
stated the object of the meeting. After
discussion It was resolved to give a sup-
per, with music and recitations, to be-
iftn at 0 p. in. The chief feature of the
supper will be strawberries.'
The Indies were notified that socie-
ties or committees of the Benevolent as-
sociation or of any church in 1 lie city
were i« ndercd the use of the V. M. C.
A. rooms. And the ladles were request-

The Rev. Dr. Delafifld, rector of a
large and influential church In Chicago
and a talented preacher, Is in the City
and Is expected to conduct the services
at SI. Clement's church (Episcopal) to-

Bernard Weyl is back from Vera Cinz
and with his large corps <>f assistants
was dealing out Mexican curiosities to
the visitors yesterday. Bernard will
soon establish himself on thla side of the
river.
Services will be held In the Trinity
Methodist church to-day as usual, not-
withstanding that the work of painting
the benches and celling and papering
the walls has begun. These Improve-
ments will be completed in about three
weeks and will make the auditorium of
the Trinity church as tine as any In the
city.
It's no use for northern papers to say

There has been a regular vendetta there
lately, nnd several killings, and since
the last killing the feeling is as high as

The plnza committee's report, pub-

members of the pouiintttee are display-
ing a vigor and devotion to their work
that merit the thanks of Ihe city. To
Mr. Lelp/.lger belongs the credit of hav-
ing projected the improvements and
raised the bulk of the ftind. And he has
found hearty co-operation from the
other members of the committee. The

The Excursion.
Nearly 400 Missouri Paclllcexcursion-
ists arrived here yesterday morning and
ipent the day roaming about the two
Paios, starting for California last night.
The day was perfect, the visitors happy,
and their Impressions of the locality of
course favorable. Quite a number of
people were on the train from Wichita,
Kansas, which Is now at the height of a
big boom. Several of the visitors were
observed to he doing tho town across
the river under the guidance of kind-
hearted bunko .
Another hrne party Is cxpected this
morning over the Galveston, Harrlsburg
& San Antonio road.
