The coanty commissioners met
yesterday to consider road mat-
ters.
The Woodmen meet tonight at
7:30 and a large attendance is de*
sired.
But twelve more days until

Miss D. E. Sorrels of Austin, will
be married tomorrow.
Albert FlowerB, a young man
living at Collinsville, was killed
by the cars 8unday morning.
District court adjourned until

The jury in the Osborne bigamy
case failed to agree aud were dis-
charged. Osborne is again In
jail.
The speeling bee at the Y. M.
C. A. tonight will draw another
crowd, and the fun will be fast,
and furious.
The ladies of the Cumberland
church will hold their bazaar in
the Water company building next
Friday, 17th.
The annual meeting of the
stockholders of the Building and
Savings Association will be held
this afternoon.
A man with a farm to trade for
city property can stijke a good
trade with Bent Roberts. He's
getting anxious.
Every show window is full of
pretty things for Christmas and
the gifts for father, mother and
friends have already been selected.
Church services were well a'-
tended Sunday morning, but at
night the howling wind and flying
dust kept the majority of people
at home.
A. L. Fairchild, the man of all
men who should know how to
spell every word in the diction-
ary, will be a participant in the
spelling match tonight.
Tom Moler has been convicted
in the district court of "convert-
ing" a horse. He did not steal
the animal, but brought him here
and sold it. He was given two
years.
Sol Wiseman of McKinney, well
known here, has purchased the
old residence property of ex-Gov-
ernor Throckmorton, which was
sold, with other real estate, at
publio auction a few days ago.
An alarm from box 27 yester
day afternoon called out the fire
department and caused the people
generally to tremble for fear of a
conflagration. The wind was
blowing a gale at the time, but the
fire was only a burning flue
S. J. Payne, stenographer for
the cotton firm of Waldo & Smith,
leaves today for Lampasas where,
at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning,
he will wed Miss Viola Turnbull,
a popular lady of that city. Mr.
and Mrs. Payne will arrive here

not yet. Those better able to
judge say 125,000 bales will be the

A large crowd of men, notice-
ably young men, gathered at the
Y. M. C. A. Sunday afternoon
and enjoyed a very pleasant time
in the comfortable rooms which
are open from 3 to 6 p. m. Sun-
day's. The men's meeting, which
is held from 4 to 5 p. m. was well
attended. The Rev. W. S. Splawn,
who was to address the meeting,
was a little late and Mr. A. A.
Wortham, the leader, was con-
dncting a spirited testimony ser»
vice when jRev. Splawn arrived.
The address was good, as was the
singing.
