The oyster supper at the Y. M.

affair and netted a handsome sum.
Officers Wofford and Bradley
last night arrested Henry Howard,
wanted at Denton for jumping his
bond. He will be taken back this
morning by Deputy Sheriff Hen-
derson.
The national convention of the
Christian church meets iu Dallas
at the Central Christian church
October 17 to 25. It is supposed
that 5000 people will be in attend-
ance. A large delegation will at-
tend from Gainesville.

It is a notorious fact that there
is scarcely a day that you do not
hear of somebody's team running
away on our streets, thereby en-
dangering the lives of our citizens.
The whole cause is neglect, or, in
other words, they have not time to
hitch or throw out some weight so
as to hold the horse. Now I want
to give everybody warning that I
have instructed the city marshal
to enforce the ordinance against
leaving horses standing in the
streets without being hitched or a
weight of some kind attached to
their bits. Look out; some one
ill have a fine to pay.
