Sarsaparilla
Sense.
Any sarsaparilla is sarsapa-
rilla. True. So any tea is tea.
^ c'o any flour is flour. But grades
differ. You want the best. It's
so with sarsaparilla. There are
grades. You want the best. If
you understood sarsaparilla as
well as you do tea and flour it
would be easy to determine.
But you don't. How should
you? When you aro going to
buy a commodity whose value
you don't know, you pick out
an old established house to
trade with, and trust their ex-
perience and reputation. Do so
when buying sarsaparilla.
Ayer's Sarsaparilla has been
on the market 50 years. Your
grandfather used Ayer's. It is
a reputable medicine. There
are many Saj-saparillas—
but only one Ayer's. It
cures.

Five Were Killed.
Chicago, August 5.—Five lives
were lost in an explosion which
took place this evening during a
lire in the Northwestern grain
elevator at Cook and West Water
streets. Three of the dead are
firemen, the body of another fire-
man is believed to be buried in
the ruins of the elevator. From
the force with which the explo-
sion swept the spot on which
they were standing, it is certain
they must have been instantly
killed.

territories of the Union are de-
voted to the production of wheat.
This year's crop is likely to be
much larger than the one gather-
ed last year, for the simple reason
that it contains a much greater
acreage. On account of the desti-
tute condition of the agricultural
districts in India and the likely-
hood that this year's foreign crop
will be short, our American far-
mers have been induced to plant
more heavily than in past years.

for several years engaged, under
the authority of congress, is en-

So far as two of the five tribes are
concerned, the Choctaws and

Chickasaws, the commission has
been successful, and an agreement,
has been concluded and transmit-

Killed by Lightning.
Cuero, Tex., Aug. 4.—The!
drought was broken here this af-
ternoon by a precipitation of 0.81
of an inch of rain.
As Chris lieincke, of Mission
valley, was leaving town he was
killed by lightning, having left
his team standing in the road and
taken to a tree for shelter. A
strange feature of this accident
was that the tree under which
Mr. Reincke was killed was pho-
tographed on his side.
Two Children Killed.
New York, Aug. 4.—A special
to the Herald from Middletown,
N. Y., says:
Two children killed and six
persons injured, several probably
fatally, is the record of an acci-
dent which occurred on the New
York, Ontario and Western rail
road just north of Rockland, Sul-
livan county.
A combined observation car
and locomotive bearing E. Can-
field, the general superintendent,
and Charles II. Hopkins, the
superintendent of the southern
division of the road, struck a
wagon containing John Maulick
and his wife and six children.
The accident occurred at the Hol-
lywood crossing. All the occu-
pants were hurled down a forty-
foot embankment into the rockyj 000 acres of land, and affects the
bed of the Willowmec river. On.- interests of 14,000 Indians and
