Hon. Win. S. Holman's Death.
Washington, April 22.—Rep-
resentative William S. Holman of
Indiana died at his home here at
2:05 p. m„ after an illness of some
weeks. Spinal meningitis was the
cause. Judge Holman's death
was due primarily to a fall he sus-
tained early this month as the re-
sult of an attack of vertigo.
Wm. Steel Holman would have
passed the three-quarter century
mark had he lived until next
September and his career is re-
markable for the large proportion
of his life was given up to the
service of the public. No living
man and few men dead have a
record as he did of sixteen terms
iu the house of representatives,
and in all tilty-four years of his
life was spent in some public ca-
pacity, beginning with a judicial
position in his native state and
winding up in the house ot repre-
sentatives. which he first entered
in the thirty-fourth congress.

Electric Bitters.
Electric Bitters is a medicine suited
for any season, but perhaps more gen-
erally needed when the languid, ex-
hausted feeling prevails, when tlie
liver is torpid and Sluggish and the
need of a tonic and alterative is felt.
A prompt use of this medicine has of-
ten averted long and perhaps fatal
billious fevers. No medicine will act
more surely in counter ing and free-
ing the system from the malarial poi-

Hanged by Her Bonnet Strings.
Des Moines, la., April 22.
The inlaut daughter of John F.
Buckley was accidentally hanged
by her bonnet strings catching on
a limb of a cherry tree. The lit-
tle girl, aged about 5 years, had
been playing on the porch but a
few minute before the accident.
Her bonnet strings were tied
twice around her neck, presuma-
bly to keep the bonnet in posi-
tion. She slipped when climbing
on a dwarf cherry tree and the
strings caught on a twig project-
ing not more than an inch.
