Chicago, 111., July 5.—The mob
at the .stockyards is larger than
ever, derailing trains. The sol-
diers have not been ordered to
charge yet. The war department
has ordered moi*e companies of
infantry to Chicago from Fort
Brady, Mont., by special train.
The artillery, cavalry and in-
fantry have been called into action
at the stockyards. A battle is ex-
pected before night.
Regulars at the stockyards
moved trains this morning with-
out much trouble.
Strikers to the numl>er of 3000
held a meat train which had to be
moved. A detatchmeut of ninety
soldiers under Major Hartz put on
double quick bayonet pointed, and
the mob scattered instantly.

from Butte, Mont., says: A riot
broke out here last evening and
one man is dead, one fatally in-
jured and half a dozen more or
less wounded, the result of an out-
break. The militia has been call-
ed out and is stationed in one dis-
trict of the city. All saloons have
l>een closed, a* well as pawnshops
aud places where ammunition is
sold.
