New pool hours set
New pool hours at the Port
Aransas Community Park pool
went into effect on Tuesday,
Oct. 18.
Fall hours for the pool are
Tuesday through Thursday,
8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; Friday, 8
a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday and
Sunday, noon-6 p.m.
Water exercise: Tuesday
through Friday, 8:30-9:30
a.m., 9:30-10:30 a.m. and
12-lp.m.
Hours will change again
when cold weather descends
and the staff must begin using
the pool blanket to contain the
warmth as the heaters kick in.
The pool will be closed
on Tuesday, Oct. 25, to al-
low senior staff to attend a
one-day aquatic conference
dealing with risk management,
in-service training and other
relevant topics.
The pool is located at 700
Clark Ave., at the end of Ross
Ave., and is closed on Mon-
day.
Pool admission is free for
children under 2, $ 1 for chil-
dren ages 2 to 18, $2 for adults
and $ 1 for seniors 60 and over.
Water exercise class is $ 1.50
per visit, coupon books for 20
classes are available for $30.
Adult swim lessons are
available by request and can
be arranged by calling the pool
office at 749-2416.

Port Aransas transfer station
mean there’s no excuse not to
clean up your yard, garage and

Dunk your Junk, a Port Aran-
sas tradition sponsored by Keep
Pod Aransas Beautiful, has been
set for Saturday, Oct. 22.
From 9 a.m. to noon, resi-
dents may take trash to the city
transfer station on Ross Averu-e
at no cost.
KPAB is looking for at least
eight to 10 volunteers able to
help during the event. Volun-
teers should bring gloves and
wear appropriate shoes, no flip-
flops. Those interested should
e-mail kpabeautiful@hotmail.
com or mtscroat@aol.com.
KPAB has partnered with
the City of Port Aransas and
Allied Waste-BFI to provide
the service.
No hazardous waste, tires
or commercial trash will be
accepted during this event.
Paint, freon, anti-freeze and
other dangerous fluids also are
excluded. Also no sheet rock,
drywall or roofing shingles will
be accepted.
KPAB is a non-profit orga-
nization, whose mission is to
promote public interest to create
a cleaner, more beautiful Port
Aransas through volunteerism
and education.
The organization focuses on to reduce/reuse/ recycle/rebuy
litter reduction, beautification and provides environmental
and community improvement, education.
