Needless to
say, it has been
an excellent year
for.offshore fish-
erman out of Port
Aransas.
The kingfish
have been at the
end of the jetties
for more than two
months, and the really blue water has
just about made it in to the ships. There
has been a great run of sail fish at the end
of the jetties with just about everyone
but me getting their hands on one of
those near shore sails. Early on in May
we had a great break in the weather, and
the fleet was able to get offshore for a
little more than a week. A nice rip out
there was producing some impressive
captain of the “Got ‘Em On” and his
crew knocked off first place in the Port
Aransas Masters tournament for the sec-
ond year in a row with three sailfish and
a white marlin. At the awards ceremony
it was announced that this is only the
second time ever that a captain has won
the Masters two years in a row. (See
tournament results on Page 11 A.)
In the same tournament, the crew of
the‘Reel Attitude’caught four sailfish. , j • j jt

Trap,” a boat out of Freeport was one
white marlin short of two super slams on
the first day (Friday) of the Houston Big
Game Tournament. In other words, they
caught two swordfish, two blue marlin,
two sailfish and one white marlin in one
day, in Texas. That beats about all that
I have ever heard around here.
This nice weather looks as if it will
hold for the next few days before turning
on us later on in the week. Hopefully it
will be a short windy section followed
..................... by a long period of pure calm.
and then it was definitely on again. I Feel free to e-mail me any fishing
have heard of billfish being caught stories or photos,
in anywhere from 10 to 600 fathoms. Until next time, see you out there,

include the Richter boys on the “Blues
Brothers. They nabbed three white mar-
lin and one sailfish in a single outing.
These guys were some of the first ones
to blow the whistle on the white marlin
this year, and whitey has been hanging
around ever since.
Peter Fox and the crew of the 30’
Grady White went one for two on blue
marlin and caught two sailfish a couple
of weeks back. Chris Fox, while run-
ning the “Game On” went an impressive
three for four on blue marlin about a
week ago. More recently, K.T. Scott,
Randy Wiesehan, right, and Craig Reedy, both of San Antonio caught
this giant dorado fishing aboard the Miss Lainieous out of Port Aransas
on Friday, June 26, with owners David and Laine Bradford of San Anto-
nio. They also caught a white marlin and several wahoo that day.
