mendations of the State
Board of Pardons and Pa
roles.
Carlos Mendoza, sentenc-
ed Oct. 1, 1975, in Castro
Country to four years tor
burglary, was paroled to
Castro Country after earning
credit for one year and seven
months through time served
and good behavior.
Jinii Pena, sentenced
March 17, 1976, in Swisher
C ounty to three years for
theft, was paroled to Galves-
ton County after earning
credit for one year and four
months through time served
and good behavior.
Rov L. Wilson, sentenced
Nov. II, 1975, in Lamb
County to four years for
burglary, was paroled to
Bailey County after earning
credit tor one year and six
months thrm.gh time served
and good behavior.

The Association Writers of
lulia High School held their
first regular meeting of the
1976-1977 school year on
Friday. September 17, for
the purpose of electing of-
ficers. They are: Vicki Bates,
president: Susan Rossi, vice-
president; Ruth Parks, sec-
retary; Julian Vigil, treas-
urer; and David Sharp, re-
porter.
This year the club will
publish a bixik of short
stories and poems written bv
students of lulia High
School A similar book was
published last vear, entitled
“Soaring with A.W.T.H.S.”
The profits of the project will
be used to send students to
Creative Writing Workshop
at Irinitv University in San
Antonio.
Purpose of the club is to
recognize and develop the
writing skills of high school
students. This is to be ac-
complished by encouraging
students to share their works
at club meetings, sending
short stories and poems to
scholastic writer's contests,
and bv choosing the best
selections to enter in the
Student's I iterarv Magazine.

at the VFW Hall. Three

evening, and those not pre-
sent were missed. Our visi-
tors were from Dimmitt
Promenadors. Lubbock Sage-
brush Stalkers. El Paso De-
sert Stars, and l ulia.

On September 16th. the
Shirts and Skirts had a
delicious salad supper and
general business meeting to
elect new officers for the fall
term. New officers are: Pres-

retary. Molly and Dee Caw
thon; treasurer. Louis and
Marv Edwards; sunshine.

season, tied both the 7th and
8th grade games with an 8-8
score, as they hosted the
Friona Chieftains at Younger
Field.
John David Wilks scored
the 7th grade TD off right
tackle from 8 yards out. The
P.A.T. was good on a pass
from Mark Stringer to Ranee
Malcom.
The 7th grade line-up con-

sympathy to Guy and Way-
dene Young in the loss of his
mother. Due to the Arthritis
Foundation dance in Ama-
rillo on October 9th. our
newly elected officers will
take office on October 23rd.

tember 30, against the Dim-
mitt Bobcats. The Jr. High
Student Council will b$ oper-
