SUNDAY MORNING VIGO
Park woke up to a picture-postcard
scene with several inches of snow
everywhere. There seemed to be about
three inches of snow on the ground,
just enough to make the trees beau-
tiful and the livestock lode really
neat standing in it. Now that is what
Christmas is supposed to look like,
with snow and beautiful decorations
on the houses and even animals fat
and colorful!
THURSDAY, DEC. 18, the
members of the local Farmer's Union
organization met at the Conestoga
Restaurant in Tulia to elect new of-
ficers. Ann Moore was elected
President, and her husband, Gary,
secretary/ treasurer
ADENAYO EGBODOFO of
Nigeria is visiting in the Kenneth
Littlefield home this month. He is a
student at Fried-Hardemore College
in Tennessee, where he is studying
religion. Mr. Egbodofo is sponsored
by Kenneth and Vicki's church in
Tulia, and they thought it would be
good for the congregation to get to
know him whileon winter break from
school. He intends to teach religion
in his hometown in Nigeria when he
finishes his seminary studies in the
United States.
THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS
program and celebration at the Vigo
Park BaptistChurch was held Sunday
evening, with quite a few local resi-
dents participating with song and
story. Afterwards, refreshments and
fellowship were shared by all.
ANN MOORE DROVE to Tulsa
Tuesday and picked up grandson
Mitchell Carson so he could come to
Vigo Park for the holidays. She re-
turned Wednesday. Bodie, Elaine and
Alyssa Carson will come to join them
Christmas Eve. While here, Mitchell
has visited Inez Richardson and
played with his cousins, Skylar and
Kensli Littlefield, and Sutton Swin-
burn at Kenneth and Vicki
Littlefield’s, and gone to see the new
James Bond movie with Dcvrce
Gardner and grandparents Gary and
Ann Moore.
ISHM AEL (HECTOR) Martinez
of Marshall, Minn., called the Robert
Gardners Friday night to check up on
all his past friends for the holidays.
He lived here many years ago and
worked for Earl Gardner. While here,
he made many friends and calls once
a year to touch base with them. He
requested that all who knew him
should have a good Christmas. His
address is Ishmael Martinez, 614 W.
Main, Apt 3, Marshall, Minn., 56258.
THE COLLEGE STUDENTS
are home for the holidays with family
in the community. Hollister Gardner,
from San Angelo, is at his parents',
Nathan Culwell is home at Mike and
Sharon's from Wayland at Plain view,
and Kara Culwell is visiting her
grandparents, Dale and Zula Culwell
from Bryan, where she is attending
A& M University, and Steven Latham
is happy to be at his parents', Gene
and Kathy Latham’s while on break
from Texas Tech at Lubbock.
RONALD BIVINS AND friends
enjoyed hunting around Vigo Park
Friday and Saturday, while wife
Becky stayed in Lubbock to visit son
Jason and Jennifer Bivins and
grandson. They all returned to Hazel
Gardner's Sunday for lunch before
going back to Dallas.
JOHN RUIZ, FRIEND of Gary
and Ann Moore, and friends from
Plainview were also hunting the area
Saturday.

Thursday and Friday with great-
grandparents John and Lucy Culwell.
While here, he played with cousins at
Kenneth and Vicki Littlefield’s.
GILBERT AND IDA LethaElms,
Roy and Mary Beasley and John and
Lucy Culwell represented Vigo Park
rather well at the Senior Citizens’
Christmas party in Tulia Wednesday
night.
CHARL GREEN IS visiting with
her parents, J.C. and Frances Hend-
erson during the holidays. She has
been in Arizona touring for some
time.
THE VIGO PARK Methodist
Church will have its annual Christmas
Eve celebration at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 24; all are welcome
to come and participate in the fes-
tivities of song, story, the Nativity
and finally Santa Claus.
JOHN AND LUCY Culwell met
others in their couples bridge group
at Mary Lee Singer's Friday for a
holiday game and party.

WHITNI ABERNATHY is the proud winner of a bicycle from BAR
Thriftway Thursday, Dec. 18. She did the drawing shown by Joe
Sanders, BAR manager. The bike is just her size, too.

Neither snow nor cold weather could keep Swisher County 4-H’ers from
participating in the Annual District 4-H Food Show which was held in
Levelland on Saturday, Dec. 13. Ten SwisherCounty 4-H’ers were among the
120 youth from across District 2 particitpating. The Food Show was post-
poned from its original date of Nov. 15, due to inclimate weather.
4-H’ers participate in thefood and nutrition project and learn about many
different fpod and nutrition principles. These principles include: the Food
Guide Pyramid and Dietary Guidelines; how food and nutrition relates to
health and appearance; the social and cultural aspects of food; skills in
planning, purchasing, storing, preparing and serving tasty, attractive, nutri-
tious and safe meals and snacks; learning aobut related career opportunities;
and sharing knowledge gained with others.
Participants in the senior division were: David Lee Hulsey, second place,
nutritious snacks; Christopher Gibson, main dish; and Kendra Springer,
Fruits and Vegetables.
Junior 2 participants were: Kiri Schoenenberger, nutritious snacks;
Adam Sims, breads and cereals; and Kate Hannan, second place, fruits and
vegetables.
In the Junior 1 division, participants were Eric Carothers, main dish; Ky
Finck, breads and cereals; Salim Poe, nutritious snacks; and Kevin Burrow,
fruits and vegetables.
Deadline for news and
