Freddy Would Like
To Go 9Round World
“Listening to Neva Davidson tell
of incidents that happened when
she was in the first grade at Beck-
ville is an embarrassing moment
for me,” quotes Fred Kenneth
Waits, thoughtfully.
Freddy, as he is better known by
his schoolmates, is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Benton Waits of Beck-
ville, Texas.
Freddy can usually be easily
recognized by his hearty laugh
and witty sayings. Having a great
sense of humor, he enjoys watch-
ing “The Little Rascals” on tele-
vision. Among other things he likes
along this line are all wild westerns
and actress Debbie Reynolds.
In the musical field, Freddy en-
joys rock and roll and organ music.
Two of his favorite songs from the
past are White Silver Sands, and
Sincerely.
Freddy likes friendly, courteous
people. He especially likes those
with a great sense of humor.
His description of an ideal girl
is one who is attractive, neat, con-
siderate, forgiving, understanding,
very manageable, and a very good
cook.
The reason he would like a good
cook is because he is very fond of
most high calorie foods. Some of
his favorite foods are steak, pota-
to salad, and blackberry pie.
When Freddy has nothing to do,
he enjoys relaxing and listening to
the radio or playing monopoly. He
also enjoys swimming and playing
the piano.
Freddy’s pet peeve is to have
someone yell loudly at him.
Freddy, who thinks he may eith-
er go into the teaching profession
or become a mortician, plans to
attend Sam Houston State Teach-
er’s College upon his graduation
from Panola.
Freddy’s secret ambition is to
take a trip around the world.

Carthage High
Debaters Win
The Carthage High School de-
bate team composed of Aubry Far-
garson and Bruce Baker recently
took top honors in the Baylor-Waco
High Forensic Tournament. Bruce
is the son of Pres, and Mrs. M. P.
Baker.
In order to win first place, the
boys won nine consecutive debates.
The climax came with a unani-
mous decision over a team from
Adamson of Dallas. By winning
first place, Bruce and Aubry re-
ceived $250 scholarships from Bay-
lor, gold medallions, and an at-
tractive trophy for the school.
This year’s high school debate
topic concerns the adoption of the
essential principles of the British
educational system. Mr. Earl Cari-
ker is the high school debate coach
