This i ention'relates to railway signal
svsteimnmaid ioieparticularlv to a sstem of
this classxxwhich i designed principal for
15 use oncurx es w hefe' it is desirable to indicate
at. one end of the curve when a train enters
the op poite end 'of the curve. The inven-
tion' howeeris' not restricted to this spe-
eific use and nix 1)e employed undeirnianxr
20 othercondiotioiissuch for example at ilroad--
ciossingsancdaihad al'and highway crossings..
One o1 theprnary objects of iy inven-
tion is to prox ide in connection with the sys
teim of-vring , -noxee4form of circuit closer

30 providing a'ginst one side of the tread of the
'outer-ra:il of the tack curve, a platexwhich is
so =mounted that the passage of the wheel
flanges therebetxxeen and the said-side of the'
. tread will mnove the plate away from the said
35 tread and resultin-the depression of a con-
tact-leaf, thisdepression of the leaf serving to
close the circuit through- the- wiring and
through a lamp - positioned at the opposite
end, of the -curve, it being understood that
40 oneor more of these circuit closing devices is
located-:at-each end of the- curve and that -in
alike manner a signal lamp is located at each
end of the curve

illustration a sytem a-applied to a curved 65,
section of track, the tiak s'are indicated by
th numeral 10 and tle nuiimeral 11 indicates
a tie aneend-of the curve and the 'numeral

uponthese ties 11-and 12 that thecircuit 70
closing devicesare, to be disposed, which cir-
cuit.closing de\ ice'will be presently fully'de-
scribed.
In carrying out the invention I provide a
main supply wire 13 which supplies the nec- 75.
essar-currentto the other wires of the sys-
teni asNxill be presently made clear. This
wire 13is strung uponpoles 14and extends,
of coursel'throuchoutthe entire length of the
curve e a(d from a sitable supplystation (not so
shown)..A wire 15 'is tapped to this main
supply wireiat a point qpposit-e to the tie

ti-'ely. v Each of the lamps is -inclosed in a
casing having; on one side a white bull's eye
and on the-other side a red bull's eve,-the 93
white bull's eyes of the two .lanipsb'eing pre-
sented in opposition or in- other words -in 'a
direction toward each other and toward the
opposite end -of -the curve to that at which
the corresponding lamps - are locatd:It 1ioo
