the handle and its jaw, the said bar having
teeth on its. under side and provided on its
sides with vertical guides, of the movable
bar and its jaw, the front saddle engaging
15 both bars and arranged between the said
vertical guides on the fixed jaw, a spring in-
terposed between the front saddle and the
movable jaw and operating with a tendency
to separate the same, the main saddle on the
20 movable bar provided with a partition ex-
tending from side to side below the latter
bar and having teeth engaging the teeth on
the handle-bar, the movable bar being fur-tlier provided with a projection to engage
the said partition. 25
4. In a pipe - wrench, the combination
with the handle-bar and its jaw, the mov-
able bar and its jaw, the front saddle engag-
ing both bars, teeth on the handle-bar, the
main saddle on the movable bar provided 30
with a partition extending from side to side
below the latter bar and having teeth en-
gaging the teeth on the handle-bar, the mov-
able bar being further provided with a pro-
jection to engage said partition, a spring in- 35
terposed between the rearward part of the
movable bar and the upper surface of the
fixed bar, and a screw-bolt tapped through
the main saddle and having its shank passed
through the movable bar. 40
