Dr. Lee's Message Thrills Large Audience
1500 Attend
Services Monday
In the charming and unique way by
which Dr. Lee delivers his messages
he held the audience spell bound last
night when he spoke on the passage
found in Matt. 14:28: "And Peter
answered him and said, Lord, if it
be thou, bid me come unto thee on
the water. And He said, come."
This message is acclaimed by many
as his best and most helpful message.
In substance Dr. Lee said, "Of the
many great accomplishments which
have happened upon the water, as:
Columbus crossing the ocean blazing
the way to a new country; Fulton
steaming up the Hudson river in the j
first steamboat; the "unsinkable" Ti~
tanic master of the ocean ripped open
by a cake of ice, costing the lives of
1643 people; the Lusitania sunk by
a 14 foot torpedo; Perry's and Dew-
ey's victories on the water, consider-
ing these the greatest things that ev-
er happened upon water was accom-
plished by Peter. He was the only
man on earth besides Jesus who ever
walked upon the water. As the boat
which carried the desciples across the
sea of Gallilee was helplessly tossed
in the raging storm they yearned for
the presence of Jesus. As the waves
grew worse they saw the Master
calmly walking toward them on the
waters of the stormy sea.
Jesus comes to us during a storm.
He comes in great disappointments,
heartaches and in unexpected sorrow.
He delay his coming until we have ex-
hausted our source of help.
Jesus was taken for a ghost. Jesus
said be not afraid it is I. Peter said
if it is you instead of a ghost bid me
come to you on the water. Matthew
said sit down fool, who ever heard
<jf a man walking on water. Christ
said come I Peter laid do wn his oar
and started for Christ.
What ever Peter did he did with
all his might. He sank because he
got so scared that he forgot he could
swim. He ceased his attention on
Christ and thought of the storm. He
saw his difficulties and hinderances,
and believed in them rather than in
his help. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Dr. Lee closed his message with a
touching personal incident on faith
from his own life.
Pastors and
Deacons Meet
The Pastors and Deacons attending
the Encampment had luncheon to-
gether at the B. Y. P. U. Cafeteria
at noon today. A splendid program
was rendered and a good time had
for all.
The ones taking part on the pro-
gram were as follows: Prof. W. H.
Pool, Waco; Rev. L. R. Byrd, El Cam-
po; J. F. Barnett, Palacios; Geo. Ma-
son, Dallas.
Prof. Pool, discussing the Value of
the Palacios Encampment, said:' 'The
Palacios Encampment has been a
great factor in the promotion of our
State Sunday School, B. Y. P. U. and
W. M. U. work: SeeonH. This En-
campment has established Standards
for the other Encampments through-
out the South. Third. The Encamp-
ment has provided Texas Baptists
with a wonderfully instructive pro-
gram annually. Fourth. The En-
campment has promoted all phases of
Denominational work. Fifth. Mis-
sionaries have been called into God's
service, who are serving Him around
the world."
Mr. Geo. Mason of Dallas, spoke on

ment." He exclaimed: "This En-
campment is a State Institution. Its
location is ideal, its equipment is su-
perb and its program is spiritual and
uplifting. This Encampment is a real
Training Camp. Every phase of
church and denominational work is
fostered. Mr. Mason's address wan
followed by splendid talks by Rev.
L. R. Byrd, of El Campo, and J. F.
Barnett. Mr. Barnett said: "We are
going to have good roads to Palacios

mons, Baylor and Baptist Bible Insti-
tute, New Orleans, this virile young
man is becoming a great power in de-
veloping the youth of his church. He
believes in young people and because
of his belief in them and their abil-
ity they respond in h wonderful man-
ner in accepting responsibilities as
great privileges.
There is ringing a truth in this
statement; that the world moves on
the feet of its young.
In New Orleans, Mr. Eastham was
specially interested in practical work
and street preaching. His first pas-
torate was in Silsbee, Texas, where,
with his efforts and the help of God
a splendid church building was erect-
ed.
Mr. Eastham loves Palacios. He
came here as a young man and this
year brought thirty people from Mc-
Kinney Avenue Church to enjoy the
delightfulness of this B. Y. P. U. En-
campment.
His wife, who was Miss Wanda Sid-
dle, of Gainesville, Texas, went to
school with Mr. Eastham in New Or-
leans. She has been his inspiration
in all of his undertakings.
He has humanity enough to love peo-
ple, is tolerant enough to understand
them and as the years go by bringing
new experiences to deepen his already
spiritual nature. Texas B. Y. P. U.
MISS BERTHA MILLS,—DALLAS
Does she tell stories ? ? ? Well I
should say she does. Had 60 or more
in Gambrell Pavilion and it is said
that a child's attention can only be
held for 7 minutes but here is where
that Rule goes Smash. Jackall, Alli-
gators, Stone Cutters, and, Oh, well
you will have to hear her yourself
t oappreciate real honest to goodness
story telling.
She is alive to the opportunity of
leaving a good impression on every
person she comes in contact with. We
are for you Miss Mills.
