The Texan has no doubt that a
great deal of good will result in
various ways from the IHC agri-
cultural short course and community i
meeting to be held here next Mon-
day and Tuesday. At this time,
when diversified farming is the up-
permost subject, a meeting of this
nature is most opportune.
The low price of cotton prevailing
during the past season and the low
quality of the staple raised in this
aection have made converts of many
farmers and land-owners who have,
adhered to the one-crop method in
the past. Many of them are looking
to Improved marketing methods to
cure the evils of low price, but the!,
fact must be faced that price is I
governed by the immutable law of j
gnpply and demand. It Is also an j
acknowledged fact that those farm-1
mn who raise their own living are j
always In better shape financially
than those who do not. One of the
purposes of the short course is to
influence farmers to raise n greater
variety and better grades of erops
»«nt livestock and to prodnre their
own living.
It Is admitted that the Internation-
al Harvester Company created Its
extension deportment and is putting
an these short courses for ndvrr-
-tising purposes, but It Is advertising
of the constructive sort. What is .
generally considered as advertising ;
will have no place on the program.
