Basket Dinner Served at Church

The HD Club sponsored a‘com-
munity ice cream supper Tues-
day night at the community' cen-
ter. Cake and ice cream were
served. Those attending were:

and Dads to Have
Ovemlte Meeting
The local Cub Scout Pack will
have a combination outing and
Pack meeting when the Cub
Scout and their Fathers spend
Friday night at the Baptist Camp
north of Cone.
The group will leave from the
Pioneer Memonal Building at 4
p.m. Friday, spend the night at
the camp and return here early
Satuiday morning. The monthly
Pack meeting will be held at the
camp.
Each boy must be accompanied
by his father or some other a-
dult. Although designated as a
“camp-out,” the group will
spend the night in one of the
permanent cabins located on the
grounds.
In addition to the Pack meet-
ing .other activities planned are
hiking and games. No swim
ming is planned.
Pack leaders said that each
person should bring bed linens,
towels, and personal articles.
Clothing' should be suited to out-
door activities. For further in-
formation, persons may contact

Young Homemakers
The McAdoo Young Homemak-
ers had a program on shoe cov-
ering given by Mrs. Hazel Brown,
the Chapter Advisor, at their reg-
ular meeting Wednesday, July
22.

Camp Concerts
Participating in the Twelfth
Annual West Texas Music Camp
conceit last Friday afternoon in
Canyon were Karen Hash,
Georgia Winegar, Sharon Suther,
Carla Winkler and Pamela
Rhoades, who played in the
Concert Band, directed by G. T.
Gilligan of Kermit.
The numbers, included “Band-
ology” by Osterling, "Beguine
Festival” by Osser and "Timpat”
by Resist: Russell Lloyd of Boi
ger was featured on the tympam
in the last number and received
a rousing applause by the large
audience assemble^ in the Fine
Arts theater of the Music build-
ing.
Sylvia Curry and Sue Barnett
played with the Symphonic
band, whjeh was directed by J.
R. McEntyre of Odessa. Number^
on their performance included
“The Gallant Seventh March” by
John Phillip Sousa, “Hymn Song
for Sunday” by Don Gillis and
“Rhaspsody on Midnight in Par-
is” by Hunsberger.
Sylvia Curry also participated
in the twirling exhibition. She
and three other girls did a twirl-
ing dance routine to the accom-
paniment, of “Lazy River,”
The music camp had one of
its largest enrollments this year,
with students from throughout
West Texas, Oklahoma and New
Mexico in attendance.
Crosbyton residents attending
the concert were Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Hash and Clay, Dr. and Mrs.
Dale Rhoades, Mrs. Lee Suther
and Brenda, Mrs. Arlen Winegar
and Mrs. Hubert Curry.
Following the program Mrs.
Bill Young gave a report on her

Mrs. Leo Griffin was hostess
for the meeting. Next regular
meeting will be at 3 p.m. August
12 in the home of Mrs. Hazel

at Camp Jo Van

Four Crosbyton Girl Scouts are
participating in a week-long
Patrol Encampment at Camp Jo
Van Jap near Barksdale in Real
County this week.
Debbie Farris, Sue Stanford,
Kathy Kendrick, and Lynn Hod-
ges; along with 28 other Senior
Girl Scouts from Caprock Coun-
cil, left Lubbock by chartered
bus Sunday morning, July 26.
This camp program, which
provides opportunities for indi-
vidual initiative has involved
detailed - planning by patrol
members and leaders, is a step
in qualifying for National Girl
Scout Round-up to bt held 4n
Utah in 1965.
The local group will return
Saturday afternoon, August 1.
