The work and money contributed by Chamber
of Commerce, Dr. Sayago, City of Crosbyton
employees, Green Thumb workers, and the
Crosbyton Garden Club to set trees in our
community was to me a worthwhile effort
to make for a better looking town. My remark
in connection with the project was, "The
town is not goint to the dogs, it is going
to trees."
Now following the work of some thoughtless
person or persons it appears our town is
going to the dogs after alt.
The person or persons responsible for
breaking 19 trees should come forward, make
an apology to the town and, rep’ ant the damaged
trees.
Should the person or persons responsible
of this act against the people of Crosbyton
not come forward a reward fund is being
started at Citizen's National Bank for in-
formation leading to exposing the guilty. More
will be said about reward next week providing
those responsible do not "stand up like men”
and make right a wrong.

Chances are, you never though! about
the value of the electric distribution
, system that serves you. How much do
you suppose is invested in the electric
meter, service connection, poles and
wires just to serve you? And how
about the miles of line that bring
electricity to your property—what's
your share of that? And the trans-
formers? And the trucks and the line
equipment, and the electric utility
property and building? What’s your
guess?
■ Nationally, America's public power
systems have an average investment
of more than $1,000 for each
customer served—$1,034 to be
exact. And this figure is growing
rapidly. Ten years ago the Investment
lor each customer was $596—about
halt that of today. In 1971 we estimateA
mat an average of nearly $150 will be
spent In electric system additions or
Improvements for each customer
served.
■ Your electric utility investment is a
sizeable and growing amount. As your
local, publicly owned electric utility,
it is our responsibility to use^nd
maintain this investment wisely. As a
citizen-owner, you should know that
we value your electric utility investment.
