Sliawi Hargrove Tops
Roadors With 153 Books
Certificates were presented last Thursday
by Crosby County Librarian Madeline Fewell
to approximately 48 youngsters. To qualify
for a certificate, a young person must have
read at least 12 books during the Summer
Reading Program.
Shawn Hargrove was declared the champion
reader with 153 books during the program.
Runner-up for number of books read went
to Stephen Roberts with 97. Jodie Ellis came
in third with 83 books.
Honorable mention went to Hubert Beeler
with 69 books read.
"Friends of the Library" donated books
as prizes to the top four readers.
Mrs. Fewell notes that "over 1.100"
books were checked out of the library during
June, first month of the Summer Reading
Program. She says that total circulation for
the summer totaled over 2,800 books.
The librarian regards this as a "sub-
stantial increase" over checkouts the
previous summer.
