The Honey Grove Book Club met
in the Educational building of tbs
Methodist church Tuesday evening
October 13. Mrs. Henry Dickson,
Club president, called the meeting
to order at 7:80, and welcomed
all guests and new members pre-
sent. Mrs. W. B. Rteves read the
minutes of the last meeting and
gave the Treasurer’s report. Year
books that had be*® compiled. e<8-
ted and typed by the year book
committee were distributed by
Mrs. G. K. Pledger, chairman, and
the other members of the cc
mittee were Mrs. J. F. Mclver and
Mm. George Luttrell.
Mrs. Verne Cooper, chairman of
the Book Committee, passed cut
books for the ensuing year. Other
members of the book committee
who accompanied Mrs. Cooper to
Dallas to select the books were
Mrs. Lon B. Evans, Mrs. F. E.
Clark, and Mrs. B. B. Gregory.
Mrs. W. B. Rleves, acting in the
absence of the Program Chairman,
Mrs. H. L. Ballew, introduced Mrs.
Eugene Wilshire of Bonham who
reviewed “Father to the Man” by
Bentz Flagnan. Mrs. Wilshire al-
ways charms her listeners with
he rreviews, as is attested by this
her thirteenth time to appear be-
fore the Book Club to give
views.
Hostesses who received the
guests upon entering the meeting
hall were Mines. J. F. Mclver,
Verne Cooper, H. C. McConnell,
R. F. Voyer, and E. J. Shannon.
Mrs. Lon B. Evans another hostess
was unable to attend the meeting.
Hostesses’ guests were: Mr
Joe Goss, Torn Ssott, H. T. Ship-
man, Byron Kelly, Elizabeth Bran-
son, J. W. Adamson, Robt. Pyron,
J. G. Dickson. Frank Welch and
Edwin Gorom. Refreshment-plates
of delicious chicken salad, coffee,
wafers and candy were passed
all present.
New members present were Mrs.
T. G. Lane, Mrs. Joe Morrow and
Mrs. R. F. Voyer.

Applications are now being ac-
cepted for participation in the
Wolfe City Band Boosters’ Club’s
Talent Show to be preaentad U
Wolfe City on the 19th and 20th
ot November. Anyone residing
within a radius of twenty- five
miles of Wolfe City is eligible to
enter. Prizes, which will be ann-
ounced later, win include an audit-
ion with a recording company.
Billed aa the biggest thing of
tta kind to be held in this area,
the show will consist of two full
nights of competition with the
winners being announced the sec-
ond night. Selection of winners will
be by an applause meter.
Johnny Dollar, popular radio an-
nouncer with KGVL in Greenville
win be master of ceremonies for
file event.
Anyone interested In entering

Wolfe City, Texas and an applicat-
ion will be sent by return mall.
AH applicants will be auditioned
by an auditioning committee and
the committee’s decision will be
final as to the applicant’s eligibi-
lity to participate. Any kind of
talent that can be presented on a
stage is eligible to apply, whether
individuals or groups and there
is no age limit.
Proceeds of the show will go
to the uniform fund for the Wolfe
City High School Band.

Meeting Held Monday
The October meeting of the
Presbyterian Business Womens Cir-
cle was held Monday night in the
home of Miss Katherine Trout and
Mrs. Martha Stroup, with Mrs.
W. F. Graves aa co-hostess.
The president, Mrs. Walter
Vaughan preaided and led the
group in repeating the circles pur-
poses; and Mrs. Alonzo Lindsay led
the opening prayer.
Mrs. Vaughan gave a report of
the recent district meeting of fall
Presbyterial, held In the First
wscs
Presbyterian Church at Deport and
attended by sixty-one persons. Shs
outlined the various projects, dis-
cussed at this meeting, and said
she Invited them to hold the 1965
fail meeting in the Honey Grove
Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Dan Baker read a list of
Missionaries stationed in India,
and on the West Coast area of
the United States, for whom apec-
iaJ prayer were said.
Mrs. Jack Meade reported hav-
ing sent a box of blankets to a
mission post in Mora, New Mexi-
co; and layettes to the overseas
Mission station in Cameroon.
The circle promised to donate
two bed sheets to the local Ser-
vice Club, for distribution to .a
needy family.
Mrs. Mark Askew, program
leader, presented'the Bible study,
entitled "Fulfill Your Ministry",
from the book, "Be What You
Are", baaed on Colloalans 4:17-18,
and Paul’s letter to Philemon.
The secretary, Mrs. T. G. Lane
reported on the progress of the
Circle’s projects, and also gave
a financial report. Members paid
their Teast coin” assessment.
Tentative plans for the Novem-
ber Thanksgiving observance were
discussed.
Following the Mizpah Benedict-
ion, the hostesses served refresh-
ments to sixteen members and one
visitor.

Burglars Break In
Rowton Chevrolet
A break-in at Rowton Chevrolet
Company during the weekend,
netted the thief or thieves a total
of 96.00 in cash. Entry to the
building was gained through a win-
dow near the southwest corner.
The window pane was removed,
enabling the- thief to unlock and
raise the window. The thief evident-
ly went out the same way. The
window pane had been put back
in place when the burglary was
.discovered. The only item missing
was 96.00 in cash from the cash
drawer, Kenneth Oliver, Honey
Grove acting police chief advised
this newspaper.
The Woman’s Society of Christ-
ian Service met Monday afternoon
in the Methodist Educational
Building for Its regular meeting.
The meeting opened with Mrs.
Henry Stroud presiding and with
prayer offered by Mrs. A. W.
Caffee.
Mrs. George Turner, Secretary
of Christian Social Relations gave
briefly an article from The Metho-
dist Woman dealing with " some
of our present day concerns.
Mrs. Grover Hall presented the
first lesson from the foreign Mis-
sion study. The Nation and the|
Kingdom, opening her discussion
with the hymn, “In Christ There
Is No East or West.’’
There were eleven present with
a new member, Mrs. Mae Eck-
hart.
The meeting was closed with
the motto.
