The monthly stated meeting of
Honey Grove Chapter No. 901 O.
E. S. was held Thursday evening
April 5. With 22 officers and mem-
bers present, the meeting was
called to order by the Worthy Pat-
ron, J. W. Armtstead.
The meeting was opened in
ritualistic form then Worthy Mat-
ron, Mary Lou Manuel, presided
over the business session. Recom-
mendation was made by the Wel-
fare Committee that $1.00 per
member be sent to Grand Chapter
for the Welfare Program in order
to make our Chapter 100% in Wel-
fare work this year. The recom-
mendation was accepted.
W. M. Manuel announced plans
for "Friendship Night” to be held
in the Banquet Room on Thursday
Evening, April 19th. A covered
dish supper at 7:00 o’clock follow-
ed by a program is to be the fea-
ture of the evening. All members
are urged to be present and guests
may be invited.
This being the night for election
of new officers the Worthy Mat-
ron turned the gavel over to the
Worthy Patron and asked that
he preside.
The following elective officers
were chosen:
Worthy Matron — Minnie -Blair
Associate Matron •—Aubra Lassiter
Associate Patron — L. H. Bell
Conductress —Vicki Ellis
A. Conductress — Grace Hudgens
Secretary — Bessie Mae West
Treasurer — Grace Weaver
The appointive officers to be
selected by the Worthy Matron-
elect will be announced at a later
date. Installation of, the new offi-
cers will be held some time In June.
Mrs. Hammack Is
Hostess For Christian
Study Club
The Study Club of the First
Christian Church met Monday
night in the home of Mrs. J. W.
present.
The meeting vqaa opened by the
president, Mrs. Edwin Gorom, by
reading a poem, "Little Things"
followed by a prayer in unison
called confiding.
Plans were made to dress a
little girl from the Juliett Fow-
ler Home for Easter.
The devotional was given by
Mrs. Thomas Ramsey from Luke
24. Mrs. Gorom had charge of the
lesson on "Salone", the mother of
James and John, from the study
book, All Women of the Bible.
After the benediction, Mrs. Ha-
mmack served a delicious salad
plate.
The next meeting will be at the
church with a covered dish supper.
Fellowship Dinner
Held At Monkstown
The First Methodist Church of
Monkstown held its’ Conference
and Fellowship Dinner in the Com-
munity House, Wednesday April
4, 1962 attended by a very large
number. A delicious dinner was
served to members from Telephone,
New Hope and Monkstown. Visi-
tors attended from Bonham, Honey
Grove, Paris and Fort Worth. Rev.
and Mrs. Cates; Rev. and Mrs.
Henry Mood were among those
present.
The Conference was well attend-
ed and many parting tributes were
paid to District Superintendent and
Mrs. Mood who are in process of
transfer from this Methodist Dis-
trict.
Mr. Jess Moore of Telephone ur-
ged all present to place May 16 on
their calendar for the Fellowship
Dinner to be held at Telephone.
Mr. Homer McElroy led the
group through an interesting pro-
gram which included a narration
of the "Ballad of Tom Dooley*’ to
guitar and vocal music supplied
by Mrs. Hubert Peel and Mr. Bob
Old, Jr. “How Great Thou Art”
and Brahams’s 'Lullaby’ were sung
by Mrs. Hubert Peel.
Miss Alma Brauderick sang some
Irish Melodies and led the audience
in the new version of “The Red
River Valley”.
Rev. Cates gave the benediction.
, The Program Committee consis-
ted of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mc-
Elroy and Mrs. Clyde Edwards.

There will be an Easter pro-
gram and a picture at the Monks-
town Community Center Thursday
night April 19th. The public is
invited.
The next second Sunday singing
will be at Allen’s Point. A nice
crowd attended the singing at
Monkstown Sunday evening.
The next Fellowship Supper for
The Methodist Church of the Tele-
phone Circuit will be at Telephone.
A nice crowd attended the supper
and fourth quarterly conference at
Monkstown.

Final Plans For Judges
Much Interest was shown at the
regular meeting of the Community
Improvement Club, Friday night,
April 6, 1962.
Committees were appointed and
everyone entered wholeheartedly in
the efforts to have everything rea-
dy for the judges who will arrive
at the ”2 Mile Turn” west of Hon-
ey Grove, Wednesday afternoon at
4:00 o’clock.
Our Club area includes O. K. Le-
htinen’s farm, everything on the
Farm to Market road from High-,I
way 82 to Rols D’Arc Bridge, and
everything on the Lone Star Roafl
to Honey Grove Creek.
Friends and neighbors in the
Honey -Grove areas, and in Fannin
County are invited to join the
judges and others on the tour at
the ”2 Mile Turn” and see the Im-
provements we have made, and
visit with us at the Community
Center.
Mrs. Clyde Todd returned to
Borger Friday alter spending a
week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Bankston.

Presbyterian BWC
The afternoon group of the Pre-
sbyterian Womens Association met
at the church at 3:00 o’clock Mon-
day afternoon.
The circle purpose was read in
unison. After the reading of the
names and their location of the
missionaries Mrs. T. L. Hollings-
worth offered the prayer. Ten
members were present. The min-
utes of last meeting was approved
as read. Mrs. Zoe Cross conducted
a very impressive devotion from
Luke 2:48-62. Mrs. Martin Ohr,
Jr. gave a much needed and time-
ly lesson from study book, "God’s
People In God’s World"
