Mrs. Cheater Fields and Mrs.
Newman Perry honored their
mothers. Mrs. Harve Baldwin and
Mrs. Carrie Woodard with a
birthday party Wednesday after-
noon in the Fields home.
Climaxing the afternoon's games
was Mrs. Bobby Hays’ photograph-
ing of the honoreea and guests.
When asked to go into an adjoin-
ing room to view the finished prod-
ucts, all found to their surprise
photographs made in years past.
The refrshment table was laid In
a green net cloth with an arrange-
ment of fall flowers. Mrs. Perry
served cake and Mrs. Ray poured.

Miss Ann Higdon, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. D .H .Higdon has
been awarded the “Good Citizen-
ship" award offered high school
pupils by the Daughters of the
American Revolution, Supt. Bob
Williams has announced.
Miss Higdon a senior, has been
member of the student council,
school choir and the library staff.
She has played basketball for four
years, is editor of “The Breeze’
and was class’ favorite in 1962.
During three years of 4-H Club
work, Miss Higdon has served as
reporter, president and county
4-H Club. In 1960 she received the
4H Clug. In 1960 she received the
council delegate from the Windoxn
4H Achievement award. In 1961
she was Gold Star Girl and in
1962, she received the Farm Bu-
reau award. She is a member of
the Windom Church of Christ.
Mr. and Mrs .Harve Baldwin
were in Madill, Okla., Thursday,
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jake
Baldwin.
Lee Thomas was taken to the
MS Hospital in Bonham Saturday
night.
Mrs. Dick Phillips and Joe Phil-
lips spent Thursday with Mrs.
Claude Elliott.
Billie Joe Lassater of - Pueblo,
Colo., son of Mrs. Ruby Lassater,
was injured in Andrews, Texas,
last week and was returned to
Pueblo and is in a hospital there
and doing as well as could be ex-
pected.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Ralph Ray
had the following guests for din-
ner Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Lee
Ray and Joe Lynn of Bonham,
Mrs. Sue Dunn and Mollie Sue
Dunn, Mrs. Wadie McCollum, all
of McKinney and her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Chester Fields.
Spending the Thanksgiving hol-
days with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Rigsby, are their children and their

ing we stopped in Pecos for a view
of the Billy Sol Estes mansion, and
then thru the Davis Mountains to
the McDonald Observatory,” Mrs.
Brown said. “The observatory is
located on the summit of Mount
Locke at an elevation of 6,285 feet
in the heart of the Davis Moun-
tains. It contains the fourth larg-
est telescope in the world and
weighs 75 tons.”
'A short distance form here we
were in Alpine with our friends
who treated us to a grand Spanish
lunch and took us through the Mu-
seum of Sul Ross College. We then
returned home with memroies of
a beautiful day and scenery.”

BIBLE STUDY
The Women’s Missionary Society
of the First Baptist Church met
last Tuesday afternoon in the Edu-
cational building for Bible study
with -7 members present.
The president, Mrs. B. B. Greg-
ory, presiding. Opening song was,
‘O Zion Haste”. The Call to Pray-
er for missionaries was read by
Mrs. Ray Erwin, who also offered
the prayer. After a short business
session, Mrs. Frank Parrish read
the minutes of the last meeting and
they were approved. Reports from
standing chairmen were given.
The lesson from the study book,
Go Ye” by Floy Barnard was con-
ducted by Mrs. Fred Finley. The
chapter was, "The Commission In
The Old Testament.” It was very
inspirational and impressive.
Mrs. Guy Chaney dismissed the
meeting with prayer.
The Sunbeams met at the same
hour with 10 present including the
leaders, Mrs. Louie Ellis and Mrs,
C. B. Shelton.

When the religious
authority of Jesus was
challenged by the Jews,
He asked them a ques-
tion concerning the bap-
tism of John. “Whence
wds it? from heaven, or
from men?” Matthew
21:25. In this the Lord
lesson that men should be
authority back of all re-
ligious practices. ■
We today need to ask the same ques-
tion our Savior asked" concerning re-
ligious teachings and practices. Are they
from heaven, or of men? Haa.God re-
vealed it, or has man devised it? Did
God command it, or is it the invention
of men? Let us apply this principle to
some common teachings of the day.
