Members of Alpha Eta Zeta
chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held
their Christmas party Monday
evening in the home of Carolyn
Orr. Lauren Haley was co-host-
ess for the evening.
A Christmas gift exchange
was held and Secret Sisters
were revealed. Names were
drawn for Secret Sisters for
1989.
A Ritual of Jewels was held
for new members Jill Baker,
Greta Bass, Lisa Johnson, Dian
Williams, Elizabeth Schafer and
Karen Price. President Laurie
Hale conducted the candlelight
ceremony assisted by transfer
member Kim Lewis, and Ellen
Leonard. Gwen Walker was also
recognized as a transfer mem-
ber.
A Christmas party for hus-
bands, with games and caroling
planned, will be held Monday
evening, December 19, at 7:30
in the home of Laurie Hale.
Those attending are to bring
their favorite holiday goodie.
Also present for the evening
were Lauren Halen, Jennifer
Orr, lone Mixon. Dtana Gard-
iner, Nan Ezzell, Linda Folley,
Joyce Cannon, Becky Wilson,
Sherry Timmons and Libby
Barker.
Recreational workshop is
offered for adults
A workshop designed to help
adults learn to lead and develop
programs in recreation will be
held at Longhorn Recreation
Lab at the Texas 4-H Center in
Brown wood March 10-14. Cost
will be $150 per person which
includes registration, room and
board, insurance, a t-shirt and a
resource manual.
Businesswomen
to continue
meeting monthly
Women attending the month-
ly Businesswomen’s Luncheon
Friday, at the Canadian Supper
Club Lounge, discussed the past
year's activities and plans for
the future.
The first meeting of the group
was held about a^year ago and
has been held the first Friday of
the month (except in December,
when the second Friday was
chosen.)
Beth Witcher has been the
informal leader of the group,
which is unstructured, has no
dues and no constitution, by-
laws or regular business. Con-
nie Taylor consented to take on
the leadership responsibilities
for 1989, booking the luncheon
time and place and starting the
phone relay.
Those present at Friday’s
luncheon voted to continue with
the same format. Any member
who wishes to give a program
may do so. but there will be no
need to for those who chose not
to.
The meals will continue to
cost between $4 and $5 and will
begin at 12 noon on the first
Friday of each month at the
Canadian Supper Club Lounge.
Those planning to attend are to
make their ow n reservations.

Diane Black, Beth Witcher, Jo
Ann Miller, Georgia King,
Glenna Schafer, Lola Adcock,
Mary Ann Ashley, Caroline
Cornett, Janet Parnell, Connie

A Christmas meeting of Circle
II of the United Methodist
Women was held Tuesday mor-
ning in the home of Sandy
Waterfield with Cindy Young as
co-hostess.
Refreshments of breakfast
casserole, sausage balls, baked
fruit, sweet bread and sauce,
blueberry coffee cake, cherry
fruit pizza, blueberry muffins,
wassail and coffee were served.
Lillian Shaw welcomed the
group; Florence Lewis led the
opening prayer.
The group voted to distribute

Maybell Harrell is in Cle-
burne recovering from major
surgery. She is a patient at
Walls Regional Hospital, Cle-
burne, TX 76031 and would
enjoy hearing from her friends.

try Store to the Methodist
Mission Home, McCurdy
Schools, the Canadian Minis-
terial Alliance and Wesley
Community Center.
Mrs. Shaw reported that Mc-
Curdy Schools need to collect
'/2-million more labels by Feb-
ruary.
Hostesses for January will be
lone Mixon and Connie Rup-
precht. Date books will be filled.
Officers for the coming year
will remain the same — Lillian
Shaw, president; Florence Lew-
is, vice-president and Sandy
Waterfield, secretary-treasurer.
Prayer concerns were Noble
Trueblood, James McLeroy,
Kelissa Moore, Sue Smith, who
is a missionary friend of Bonnie
Shrode, and Kim Parnell.
Christmas trays were prepar-
ed for several shut-ins.
Present in addition to those
named were Vi Crosier, Maggie
Babitzke, Libby Barker, Cornel-
ia Varnell, Karen Price and
Sally Anderson.
49ers have Club
Tournament
The Fortyniners Duplicate
Bridge Club had a Club Tour-
nament on Monday with four
tables pTaying a Howell move-
ment.
High scorers were Helen
Shaller and Genevieve Webb.
In second place were Char-
lotte Bussard and Berniece
Peugh, in third place Mary
Bennett and Ann Flowers, and
in fourth place Clarence Hense!
and Doris Hutson.
Others playing were Vera
Jones, Dori Brock, Ollie Arring-
ton, Cleo Isaacs, John Isaacs,
Shelley Behney, Elizabeth
Glenn and Mary Conatser.
