BOX OFFICE AT THE NEW PALACE THEATRE
meters and wellheads from
locations in Lipscomb, Hemphill
and Wheeler Counties and from
other sites across the state line in
Oklahoma and Kansas.
The first break in the case oc-
curred in October when an Amar-
illo man, 49-year old Gary Lynn
Davis, was arrested in Winkler
County on charges related to the
sale of stolen gas meters. District
Attorney John Mann said the se-
rial numbers on the meters
matched those of equipment sto-
len in this area. Davis was being
questioned about numerous other
thefts, and Mann said he expected
the arrest to lead to others.
THE PALACE THEATRE
re-opened its doors in October
following a nine-month hiatus
during which the screen remained
dark while extensive renovations
were underway. The
result—eagerly greeted by movie
goers around the region—is a
wonder of modern technology
blended with an historical
restoration that is perfect light

The Coaches’ Closet has filled a
shopping gap here by offering a
fine line of men’s clothes and other
gift items. Next door, the Hidden

fers gently used clothing and
household items.
The Canadian Record was
among the first to restore its Main
Street face, adding large windows
along the front, a new awning and
a well-lit recessed entry way. In-
terior improvements continue
there as time allows. The Hem-
